I was fifteen at the time of this experience. I have done all of my piercings myself and will continue doing so as long as I can. By the time I reached the decision to take my body modification a step further I had already done multiple piercings on myself and had experience working with needles and I had done my research. The only thing I wish I could have done differently was the jewelry since it was not sterile. Please do not use dirty jewelry like I did. To the story:
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon IAM Catmint When A year ago Artist Me Studio My bedroom I had thought about getting some sort of genital piece for a while. It was clear for me that it had to be something easy, something I couldn't screw up very badly. It was also clear to me that it would be done by me.
Somehow the idea of an inner labia piercing just grew in my head. Every time I touched myself I stopped and pinched and rolled my inner labia, trying to find the perfect spot. I decided to do it on the left side since I was right-handed. I gathered up some courage and thought about the procedure step-by-step. The equipment was to be a 16 g needle, some rubbing alcohol, a 1.0 x 10 mm CBR made of 316 L surgical steel and of course a pair of medical examination gloves. I was yet to decide the day of the procedure, I just knew I had to do it. I just had to take my modifications a step further.
Then the day came. I was alone at home and probably browsing through BME. I looked at my pre-sterilized needle and thought about doing it. The timing was perfect and I decided to go ahead.
I put a towel on my floor in front of the big-ass mirror I have hanging on my wall and set up all of my stuff. I washed myself thoroughly and sat down on the towel separating my legs real wide. First I pondered upon the placement but I decided to do it without making any marks. I put on my gloves and opened the needle. I lined up the needle and took deep breaths. I pushed the needle a bit and as soon as it went in I felt the most intense pinch ever. I had to stop for a moment and take some more deep breaths. Then I continued slowly pushing the needle through. It was good that I chose the inner labia since the tissue is fairly soft and thin. By the time I had reached the part where I could see the needle poking through the other side I was having the most intense adrenaline rush to date and I loved it. I pushed and the needle popped through, making me jump a little. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled so wide that I looked like I was high on something! I took the CBR which I had boiled in hot water and disinfected with rubbing alcohol and put it in after the needle. I put the ball on the CBR and cleaned the piercing site with a Q-tip. I was happy and ecstatic now that I had my very first genital piercing. I felt that I couldn't be categorized with the average teen anymore and to be honest I liked it.
The following night I went to a film night with my friends and sitting was awkward to say the least. I told my closest friends and they were grinning since they had been expecting to hear about this sooner or later. It was good that I decided to do this procedure in January since it's fairly cold then at least here where I live. Healing was uneventful. Peeing stung for a week afterwards and aftercare consisted of warm showers every day. After two weeks I changed the CBR to a 16 g curved barbell and after a month to a 14 g CBR and I've stayed with that ever since. It has stretched to a 10 g but it doesn't matter since I like to leave it out sometimes.
The only thing I didn't look forward to was my appointment with the girly-part doctor. She was nice though, asked about healing and how I keep it clean and that was that. After a month and a half I decided to give my inner labia piercing a sister but I'll tell about that some other time.
I hope that people realize that piercing your own genitals CAN be dangerous and can lead to something awful BUT when done properly and when looked after carefully they can be wonderful. I do not condone piercing yourself uneducated and unaware of the risks. So do your homework and if in doubt please go to a professional.
