Having been a denizen of RAB and BME since I was 14 years old, I've not only been aware of the outrageous, luscious and succulent possibilities in regard to body modification; I've been gifted with the hindsight of RABbits and IAM members past and present concerning what I consider to be my needs when choosing a new modification via the tales they've told. One of the tomes that has stuck with me the longest concerns genital piercings, surely one of the categories of anatomy that squicks non-modified folks the most. All it has done is intrigue me, so when I came of age, I planned a downstairs-piercing to be executed when I was ready. This resulted in a my vertical clit-hood piercing, which healed beautifully and provided little but pleasure and enjoyment of my adult body. Thus, I decided that a multiply pierced vulva was definitely for me.

After much tumult and turmoil in my life concerning employment and where I was living, I visited my mother in Palm Beach, Florida. Things calmed down quite a bit, so I decided to visit Ink Link Tattoos after hearing rave reviews of their piercer's technique, dedication to cleanliness and studio atmosphere. I desire a piercer who is willing to talk with me and help me plan my piercings rather than plan them for me, so a humanistic approach is a must. Being that I wanted to start an inner labia project, fabrication of what is to come is a must. One of my interests is car restoration: you certainly wouldn't begin a project of that caliber without a plan you'd refer to in order for the best results, so why should my body receive lesser treatment?
Appointments at Ink Link are a formality and are not typically necessary; being that unlike some shops, they utilize their autoclave, a small wait after choosing jewelry is inevitable but welcome. During my visit to their Okeechobee location, I was greeted by the buzz of chattering clients, several tattoo artists discussing music and current events amongst themselves while waiting for clients. The shop almost seemed to be a living entity, which is something I consider to be a fantastic sign.
Stephanie was manning the counter when I came in. She's enthusiastic, knowledgeable and not at all condescending towards clients. In fact, she asked if I'd like to see some photographs for placement purposes or if I had any questions. We had a great chat and selected the jewelry together, an important trait as far as I'm concerned.
After a short wait (while my jewelry was being sterilized), I was called in to the piercing room by Tommy, my piercer. Tommy had some music on and we chatted. I'm not too shy about de-pantsing in front of my piercer, being that she/he's going to get even more intimate with my lady-bits than visual contact, so I was immediately comfortable in the chair, especially because Tommy has an easy-going, sweet attitude and quite a lot of empathy towards his clients. Most importantly, Tommy is a consummate piercer, making with a desirable number of glove-changes during the procedure, being very gentle with the prep-work and the beautiful execution of the actual piercing.
Tommy and I discussed further placement of future labia piercings, prospective jewelry and what look I was after (3 piercings per inner lip starting 12 ga with stainless steel), so I felt very secure with Tommy at the helm. Another notable aspect of my time with Tommy was his firm questioning concerning any health issues or allergies; he checked off each part of the procedure and all corresponding cleansers /agents with me prior to cork, needle or glove so much as being touched. This is a trait that most shops I've been to, no matter how reputable, do not always touch on, which concerns me.
(Although it's a necessity for a piercee to inform their piercer of potential allergies, some are uninformed as to what cleansing agents will be used, forget in the heat of piercing excitement or are never asked at all.)
Of course, Tommy went over aftercare instructions with me, making sure I thoroughly understood them as if I'd never had a piercing before. Some folks, especially those of us who are multiply pierced could find this grating but I'd rather hear good instruction instead of none at all; assumptions about clients or piercers is a gateway for trouble in my mind. I'm rather glad that as casual as Tommy is about some things, he doesn't lapse in anything when it comes to being a concerned person and piercer.
My boyfriend will be visiting me here soon because we are considering moving to the Palm Beach area and we've decided to make Ink Link our one-stop shop in event of questions or new additions to our bodies. I will certainly continue my project with Tommy alone if at all possible. After having spent as much time in the body modification world as I have in my young life, I've dealt with more pompous asses than I care to recall. It's a nice change to have a shop-staff that isn't as sterile as their jewelry portends to be.
I'm on day 3 of healing and I've barely bled. There is a bit of bruising down the length of my left lip but very little discomfort. I am very satisfied, however, and can't wait to return for the next portion of my project!
I'm looking forward to a happy, continuously uneventful healing and my next check-in at Ink Link with Tommy and the rest of the staff for the next step in my project. If you're able to stop by the Palm Beach #1 location, at 4738 Okeechobee Boulevard, I'm sure you'll be very pleased with both the results and the actual time spent at the shop!
