I was originally pierced in 1996 at Sticky Fingers in Baltimore. I still remember this piercing like it was yesterday. With much trepidation and several calls cancelling and rescheduling this piercing, one Friday in the fall I walked the several blocks from my home to Sticky Fingers (isnt that just like fate for a labial piercing?) and waited several minutes for my artist to arrive. I was met by a long haired heavily tatooed and pierced woman of about 26 at the time. I was asked to select the jewelry she'd use on my piercing and at first I selected the absolutely smallest captive bead they had in the entire store. I was then informed that there is a higher chance of migration with the smaller rings and I was shown a 14G 1/2" ring. This kind of scared me at the time. You mean THIS is going through my skin??? Ok so off to the back room I went. Hospital clean is the only way to describe this room. No posters of alternative rock bands, no voodoo candles or anything else like that. It included a medical table, a sink, and several counters with salves and drawers probably filled with needles. She removed the jewelry from t he autoclave and showed it to me, showed me the needle in plastic and as she removed it. I guess thats to assure you that everything is sterile. She washed my vagina with an antibacterial soap and dried me thoroughly. She then examined my labia (gods I felt like I was at the gyno office!) and informed me my right labia wasnt a good choice because it obviously was shorter than my left. So left it was. I was marked and told to hold my leg up as she prepared to pierce me. She put on the clamp which kind of hurt.. more an uncomfortable pinch than anything else and then I was informed to breathe in, and then as I was pierced to push the air out. I did as was told and was surprised that this was NOT terrible pain wise. For the squeemish regarding this kind of piercing, I am a pain wuss. A serious pain wuss. The most pain of this entire procedure was when she threaded the ring into th "\Ãw"ë e open wound. More discomfort than actual pain. Then she showed me my new piercing in a mirror and commented that it really complimented my pussy. I was like "wow this wasnt bad at all!" I was then told again the cleaning procedure, handed another brochure about cleaning and asked if I had any questions. I said no as I did my research on this piercing. I then pulled up my drawers and jeans. As I stood up I was shocked that there was no pain, more a dull throb. I paid for my piercing and walked the 1/2 mile home. When I got home I couldnt stop looking at my new piercing. I became a contortionist as I examined my piercing again and again.

It burned, so I learned to sit back a little bit and then there was no pain. I cleaned it 3 times a day with antibacterial soap and in 3 days I was able to urinate without any pain or sitting back. Within a week I was up to having sex. The healing process with a labial piercing was so easy. The vagina is self cleaning so it became very easy to heal. During the time I've had this piercing, I have not had 1 single infection or swelling at the piercing site.
Almost 10 years later I lost my original captive bead, so I wanted to get another ring. Back to Sticky Fingers I went and selected a horseshoe rather than a captive bead because it was a little more permanent to screw the balls on rather than pop a captive bead on. I can not pop a captive bead on to save my life. I'm a clutz like that and plus considering the area, it was a little difficult. Fortunately or unfortunately I selected a 12 gauge horseshoe rather than a 14 gauge. Having the original piercing for almost 10 years left the original hole a little stretched to begin with, so the thicker ring went in without much incident. I am going through a brief healing process but its not painful, just a little itchy and a little lymph.
Sexually I dont receive much more sexual pleasure with having this piercing rather than before having it. But some have reported having greater sexual sensation and great for them!!
So thanks for reading my report about the long term labial piercing. If you have any qualms about the pain of this procedure, I say this, its not any more painful, actually less painful than an ear piercing. Its a very simple piercing and with ring or horseshoe, its a very sexy piercing
