The VCH just looked kind of lonely all by itself. It needed an accompanying decoration. I talked it through with my boyfriend and though he finds piercing to be an extremely expensive hobby, he's fairly neutral about the actual piercing and jewelry, so he was cool with it.
I already knew where I would have it done at - Warlock's Tattoo in Raleigh, NC. That's where I had gone before and I was truly satisfied with it. My piercer, Autumn is a genuinely nice person, and really calms me down before a piercing plus she's a girl which is a big deal with genital piercings. The shop itself is a member of the Alliance of Professional Tattooists, the National Tattoo Association, and the Association of Professional Piercers. So I waited a week to procure the funds and to think it through.
So the big day came. I went to the shop and Autumn remembered me. I did the usual forms and waited for everything to go through a second sterilization. I got in there and almost backed out of it. For some reason I was way more nervous than usual. But I told myself that I had come this far and I wasn't about to back out now. So I got the first piercing done and then it was time for the two inner labias. Autumn wanted to know whether I was getting the same side done twice or getting opposite sides done. I said opposite (I am crazy about things being balanced) and then I took off all of my clothes from the waist down. I hopped up on the chair that had paper kinda like the stuff they make you dress in at the gynecologist's office on it. I was told to put my feet on her knees and I did. She cleaned the area with what I assume was alcohol wipe or something of that nature (it's not exactly easy to see everything going on down there). It was time for the first piercing so she got my labia in place and the cork ready. I knew the drill...deep breath. So she told me to take a deep breath and I did. It was a pretty strong pinch. A lot of people compare it to a beesting but I've never been stung by a bee so I don't know. It's enough to bring out a little vocalization. It's painful but nowhere near as painful as some other piercings. Autumn says female genital piercing are ridiculously easy. She put the jewelry in (which takes a little time with captive bead rings because they have to secure the bead in with special pliers and in this case the jewelry wasn't open quite enough so she had to open it a little first.) Anyway, my legs were shaking a little and I told her I needed a little rest before the next one. So I took a few moments to compose myself. She wanted to know if I wanted the other on the exact opposite side (in which case the jewelry would click together) or would I like the next a little lower so the jewelry doesn't touch. I opted for the latter choice because the first didn't seem like it would be very "\Ãw"ë comfortable, especially during the healing period. So, with that decision she once again arranged my labia and the cork and told me to take a deep breath. Once again, a very strong pinch. I don't remember which side it was but one side was pretty uncomfortable when the jewelry was being put in.
So it was done. I told her that I had noticed that the piercing gallery on the website didn't have a picture of inner labia piercings and I would be glad to let her take a picture of mine. She was definitely happy about this and she covered me up with another paper thingie and went to go get the camera. She cleaned it up a little (I assume it was bleeding) and took two pictures. We discussed when it would be on the website and she knocked 30 bucks off of my fee for being as nice as to allow it. I paid and tipped her (TIP YOUR PIERCERS!) and we had a talk about all the different genital piercings and she printed the pics for me before I left. I needed a bottle of the special soap she sells and she just let me take it (normally 10 dollars).
That night one side in particular bled a lot. And the next morning they were still bleeding a little. It stung a bit to clean them at first but nothing major. Two days after the piercing one of my labia was swollen and bruised. And I had to sit down pretty carefully for awhile. But it's only a week later and I don't even know they're there anymore. They're very pretty and I love them lots! The pic isn't on the website yet but it should be within a few weeks. It'll be the one with a clitoral hood and two inner labia piercings.
