Ok, I will have to admit. When I first started getting pierced, I thought labial piercings looked kind of slutty. Most of the ones I'd seen in my online "research" of female genital piercings were the corset-like sets that were interlocked CBRs or laced together with ribbon. That was a little too far, even for me. Lately, though, I decided that I needed at least one labial piercing. I had been watching some porn videos, and one of the actresses had a labial piercing that looked pretty good--not as slutty as I'd first thought them to be. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted one.

I've done several of my own piercings before and even have pierced some friends, so I decided that rather than spending scads of money at a tattoo parlor I'd just do it myself. I had forceps; I could easily order sterile needles off the Internet....How hard could it be? I'm not a complete idiot, though; I decided to do more "research" to see what kind of experiences other women had had with this type of self-piercing. Enter BME's website.

I spent hours reading different testimonials/narratives from women who had pierced their own labia. Most of them warned that it was extremely dangerous to do on your own (and I agree--don't be as stupid as I was; just pay the money & get it done by a professional), but most also had good outcomes. I weighed the options. I know a couple of the local tattoo artists/piercers, but I really didn't want to go to them & pay to have it done by them. Besides, I find it liberating to pierce myself. I can look at that piece of metal inside of my skin and think "I did this." I ordered a couple of sterile 14ga needles (in case I decided to pierce both labia) and waited.

Now, a smarter person than I would have also ordered sterile jewelry; in my brilliance, I decided to use some 14ga CBRs that I already had. A quick dip in some hydrogen peroxide, and they were "clean." This is yet another cautionary reminder to go to a professional. If you don't have an autoclave, your stuff isn't clean. I am stubborn, though, and had made up my mind to do it myself.

After I got up and had a bowl of cereal today, I showered (cleaning my labia over & over again with Dial soap), dried off, and went to my room to pierce myself. I had finally decided on the placement and number of my piercings: one near the front of my right labium and one near the back of my left. I know that most people prefer to have symmetrical labial piercings, but there's something about assymmetry that I like. Besides, all of my other piercings are either centered or symmetrical; too much symmetry gets boring.

The first one, the one on the right, was pretty easy to do. Since it was near the front I was able to see what I was doing. The pain wasn't too bad; of the piercings I've had so far, it was on the low end of the scale. The hardest part was putting the stupid ball on the CBR. Those things are difficult enough when you're not having to imitate a contortionist. I kept dropping it and having to find where it rolled to (usually right under my butt). The second one took a lot longer to do. The majority of time was taken up just trying to figure out how I was going to see to place the forceps & put the needle through. I finally managed to prop up a small purse mirror to where I could see what I was doing (yet another reason to go to a professional; they can see what they're doing without mirrors and bending over). It was still hard to maneuver well; even if the position hadn't been awkward, I am not accustomed to doing piercings by looking in a mirror. Finally, though, I got the ne edle through. Again, the pain wasn't too bad. Once again I fought with the captive bead, but finally I had it all done.

I was rather proud of myself. I spent a good while holding a mirror in front of my vagina & just staring at my handiwork. It hasn't even been 12 hours yet since I did them, but I really like them. The second one is still bleeding a bit & it really burns to pee, but otherwise it's not bad. A bit of a burning sensation every once in a while, a little pain if I sit wrong. I just keep reaching for a small mirror I keep by my bed & looking at them. I don't really consider vaginas sexy, but I'm starting to dig mine. I think it turned out looking really hot. Hopefully, after they heal, guys will, too!
