First of all, I'd like to point out that this piercing was entirely spontaneous and I had given no thought whatsoever to sterilizing my "needle" or how it would affect me. Stupid I know, but it's working so far, and next time, I will DEFINITELY pre-plan. I have a lot of piercings lined up and they will most probably be self done. I would much rather they were done professionally but its definitely the age limits, as well as parents, that are the main barrier stopping me getting them done in the studio...

Well, it was just another day in my life and that night I couldn't sleep, bored as hell, my mind started to drift towards the idea of a temporary piercing... There was a safety pin on my window sill and the house was silent... A perfect time to pierce myself... I started to think about what I could give myself... I quickly decided on a VCH (vertical clitoral hood). I'd wanted one for a while and it would be at least a few years before I could professionally get it done, I also knew from reading experiences on the BME that it wouldn't hurt much, if at all. So I took the safety pin, found a make-shift clamp and washed my hands with antibacterial soap...

I positioned the clamp in where I thought would be the right place, took the safety pin in my hand and tried to relax. I knew it wouldn't hurt but I still didn't like the feeling of my skin being pierced. It shocked me the first time I pierced myself because in the experiences I'd previously read people didn't really mention it and because my ears were pierced with a gun I couldn't have learnt from that experience. I used the same method as always; apply pressure slowly but surely. As I suspected, I got a shock from the pin passing through my skin but other than that it was a pain free experience. I fastened the safety pin and searched around for the jewelry I used to stretch my ear piercings to 2mm. I thought that these would be suitable because it was essentially like a new piercing when you stretched your lobes. Only, I couldn't find them! I decided that after all that I would just have to leave the safety pin in... In the morning I researched how to clean and care for my fa bulous new VCH and was happy to find that it didn't take long to heal and a sea salt soak was very easy to prepare and use!

However, that was a HUGE mistake. My clit was swollen and sore and I could see the pin starting to rust at the tip! I told myself that the next day I would go into town and get myself a barbell. This is exactly what I did. I selected a tongue barbell made of a plastic so then there was no chance of it reacting with my skin, it was also fairly long so it shouldn't have a problem with swelling and tongue jewelry would go through a lot what with it being in the mouth, so it made sense these would be the best to buy. I bought it along with a few rings that I could use when it had healed fully.

When I got home I went straight to the bathroom, took of my pants and underwear, took the barbell from the packaging, washed my hands with antibacterial soap and undid the safety pin. Holy crap that hurt!! For a spilt second I thought it was going to rip! I pulled it out and immediately inserted the barbell into the top hole. Just my luck that it wasn't quite straight... It took a minute to find the exit hole and then screw on the ball. I was so chuffed!

The next day was much less painful. The swelling had gone down significantly and, even though the piercing was slightly off centre, it looked absolutely great! In fact, if it was perfectly in the centre, I think it would have looked slightly odd and too perfect...

I clean at least twice a day with a fairly mild sea salt soak (1/4 tsp to 250ml of warm water) or sometimes hydrogen peroxide. My mum recommended the hydrogen peroxide because she used it for her piercings; although she has taken hers out now due to getting in the way. Well, she practically forced me to use it when stretching my ears, which wasn't much help. Although I can't say I recommend using hydrogen peroxide...

I know many other people before me have said this, but girls! This piercing is wonderful! If you're considering getting it; do it! It has so many benefits and next to no down-sides! However, I seriously urge you NOT TO BE AS STUPID AS ME!! I realize the dangers I have put myself in and how stupid I was and this is shows just what you SHOULDN'T do! Like I said; Get it done professionally or, if you're up to it, do it yourself with correct and sterilized equipment!
