I had been considering this piercing for about a year or so but in the last week I had really been seriously considering it. I had done extensive research on the internet and looked at various pictures before I decided this was going to be my very first(but not last!) genital piercing. I was still unsure on the placement I wanted.

I was unsure about how I would go into a piercing studio and ask for my clitoris hood to be pierced. I kept telling myself that they have done this millions of times before but nevertheless I was extremely nervous.
I worked up the courage to go and get it done. On the drive to the studio I was going over how I was going to ask for this piercing in my head, but I just tried to forget about it as I was getting to stressed out! When I walked into the studio I was hoping there would be no one else there as I felt uncomfortable asking for this to be done while the room was full of people! Thankfully the studio was quiet. I walked up to the piercer who was standing at the desk and asked if the were available to pierce right now. Obviously I had a good idea that they were but I was so nervous by this point any small talk was just for stalling sake. She told me they were quiet and that it could be done just now. She asked me what I was looking to get pierced and at that point I nearly wimped out and said something like "my ear" or "my nipple", something simple I had had done before. But I managed to work up the courage to say "my hood". After getting that out the way I felt much more relaxed. We discussed jewelery that I would like and I settled on a little pink barbell. We also discussed placement as I was unsure on wither I wanted it vertical or horizontal. She told me that horizontal was more for the way it looks whereas vertical was for the sensation and for the way it looks, so that settled it for me!
Before piercing she had to check that I was anatomically suitable for this piercing. So off I went through to the room and took off my shoes and trousers and assumed the position on the bed. On inspection she concluded that although I could get this done I would be more suited to a ring to be placed in it for the healing period as my hood was quite short and a bar would have caused friction. So i settled on the revised choice of a little blue ball closure ring. She explained to me why it was unsuitable and demonstrated the length of the bar next to my hood. This put me at further ease because she was actually involving me in the process so I was aware what was going on. I then had to get the area properly cleaned. By this point I hadn't even thought about the fact I was lying on a table with my legs spread!!
Finally it came to the point when the piercing would take place. She clamped my hood, which I have to admit was possibly the most unpleasant part of the experience. Then I was told to take a deep breath in and the needle popped through the skin quickly and relatively painlessly. It did nip a little but it was certainly by far one of the least sore piercings I have ever had done! Then the jewelery was inserted and I was asked if I would like to see, which I couldn't wait to do! I was handed the mirror to take my first look. It looked so beautiful, a little blue glint from in between my legs. I was given some tissue incase of bleeding, but I have to say that this has been minimal. I then paid and left the shop a very happy customer.
Once i got home I had a look in the mirror and it looks amazing and beautiful. I can see it when i stand up which I think is really pretty. I have had a little bit of sensation from it but nothing too intense. I would definitely say that if you want it, go and get it done. Definitely one of the best piercing decisions I have ever made. When this heals, I'm going to go back to get the Ball closure ring changed into a little cute pink barbell and get a little horizontal hood piercing to match and later possibly a few inner and outer labia piercings! I think I am addicted! I can't wait! It is my own little secret and it was pierced just for me and no one else. I love it!
