I've always come to BME for advice, research, etc... I've always found the experience section the most helpful. I've never had the urge to share mine- until now. This was the only piercing where it took myself personally a lot of courage to gather to get and I've seen how that's a common thing. So I figure might as well try and help someone out there like others have helped me. Hope it helps.

Let me first say that I have been getting body modifications since I was 15 (not smart I know, but I have learned A LOT more about them since then). Based only on appearances, people have always assumed that I had a female genital piercing without even asking. So one day I figured why not do it and prove them right. It did take me a long few months of toying with the idea before actually taking action. I understand the common fear and paranoia regarding this very well. TRUST ME........
I originally wanted a full clitoral piercing. Then I opted against it after reading about the EXTREME dangers and pain of getting one (if you to are considering that, I really recommend that you read up on it extensively first). So after talking with some friends who had a VCH (vertical clitoral hood) and reading up on it, I was convinced that a VCH was a better idea. Also I actually liked the way the VCH looked. Plus a VCH is so simple that the majority of women are built and suitable for one.
Like everyone else out there I was scared shitless that I wouldn't be able to gather the courage to get it done, it would hurt like hell, or worse something could go wrong (in an area you would never want that happening in). Also the idea of basically being spread open for a needle wasn't the most pleasing thought I'd ever had. But I finally gathered up what nerve I had and decided it was now or never....And I'm glad I did it.

Some advice BEFORE CONSIDERING GETTING ANYTHING: I've had the same piercer for some time now (yes I've followed him from other shops). I really recommend before getting anything one, you find and research and experienced professional. From there you have to build a trusting relationship with your artist (same for tattoos). Feel free to ask stupid questions (and a lot of them), that is their job. If you don't feel comfortable with someone DO NOT STAY, there's always someone else out there. You don't have to go to the first place you see.
Also, read up on what you want first. Too many people out there don't really understand what they want or are getting (you may be describing a VCH but ask for a clit) or the risks involved. Make sure the place is sterile. Who cares if they're pricey, go for quality first. Make sure you know what the consequences are (and accept them) before you sing a contract and give away your money.

ACTUAL PROCESS: I vocally expressed my fears and asked a few questions beforehand. He reassured me everything would be ok . He talked me through everything and helped me through what could have been an unpleasant experience.
Yes I did have doubts and fears not uncommon to anyone out there. A part of me wanted to say F*** this and run out. But it was now or never and I always do what I want, no matter how scary . Just relax and don't forget to breath (apparently I did), reassure yourself and talk more with your piercer if need be. I picked out the jewelry, signed the contract and prepared. I was cleaned, marked and then told to take a deep breath in on the count of 3 and then slowly let it out. At three I was pierced. Like everyone else has already said, the receiving tube wasn't a pleasant thing. It was unexpected and it did hurt a little. The piercing itself was a pinch and what felt like a great deal of pressure. I was reassured that that was the worst of it, and it was. Before I knew it, it was all done and said with. Exact same overrated experience I had read and heard about. I say overrated because it sounds more painful than it actually is.

AFTERMATH A few seconds of discomfort for something I really love. No pain or awkwardness sitting, standing, walking, running peeing, etc... afterwards (when the car hit bumps in the road it was a bit annoying more so than anything else). Really easy to clean as well. This was all done last night and I'm experiencing no discomfort or pain at all since; hell it's almost like it's not there, but I know it is. It's something special to me. Something that not many people out there know I have; my own little dirty secret :)
