I remember seeing a picture once a few years ago of a girl with a hood piercing, and how pretty and attractive I found it. Since then, that image has resided in the back of my brain, occasionally poking at me and my love of piercings... however, after a bad experience with my boyfriend (now ex) after getting my labret done and how badly he reacted, there was no way I could admit to anyone that I wanted a piercing *there*.

He was a bit taken aback, to my amusement, but told me he thought it would be fun, and that I should go for it.
With his added encouragement, I toyed with the idea of getting it done even more. I researched, and researched, and oh, did I research.
A few months went by, and I was still turning the idea over in my head. Last week, however, I knew I had to get it done, I can't say why, really....I just knew. The idea made me so much more excited over it - I wanted to get it done as soon as possible.
This proved to be very interesting for me, as I am currently studying abroad in Ireland, and had only been in Dublin for 2 weeks - needless to say, I'm still a bit unfamiliar with the area. Thank goodness for the internet. After looking all over BME and various other internet sites and forums, I found what I determined to be the best piercing places in Dublin.
I ended up going to Celestial Ring, and was pierced by a very lovely woman, who made the whole experience fantastic. (In the whirl of it all, I unfortunately have forgotten her name...). She did tell me, however, that she pierced her own hood...I was quite impressed.
Initially, I was a bit nervous (not to mention I went to the studio alone - sort of as a bonding experience with myself), so I asked to speak with the female piercer they had on staff. She was in the back finishing up with another customer, but she would speak to me once she was done. I waited and busied myself with browsing the tattoo patterns. When she was all set, she took me to the back and answered any sort of question I could have possibly had. She was very thorough in her explanations and very professional. I asked her if she would have time today to take me. She did, but she had one more customer before me.
So, I waited a bit more, and busied myself in the waiting area. All the waiting made everything that much more exciting.
When she was ready for me, she took me to the back room, asked me to remove my bottom dressings, and "scootch" my bum to the edge of the table. She explained everything to me as she went along, making sure I was comfortable the entire time. I have to say, having that tube under my hood was such an awkward feeling! Then it finally came time for the piercing itself.
Deep breath in, deep breath out. Once more. *Pierce* It hurt more than I expected - I guess I was expecting something more like my Labret, which really didn't hurt me at all - but it really wasn't that bad - a few seconds of pain, and thats it, though my body did twitch a bit when the needle went through. I didn't even yelp, though. It was definitely more than bearable. It felt a bit odd when the jewelry went through, but not painful - just, odd.
My piercer told me to take my time getting up, and to only stand when I felt ready. I hopped up without hesitation, in a happy daze - I was so proud of myself! I checked myself out in the mirror - it was beautiful! I had to restrain myself from hugging my piercer!
I was a little disappointed though, because she always pierces any hood with a CBR initially, and I so like the look of the bars...in her experience, she said the CBR heals nicer because it applies less pressure to the piercing itself. She said after a month or so, I can swap it for a bar, but until then I'm completely content with what I've got. It feels so sexy! Like so many others have said, it feels amazing to know that I've got a piercing in my panties, when its a secret to everyone else! (Well, with exception of some friends, and the boyfriend, of course...).
The piercing was done a few days ago, and I bled a little bit for the first day and a half. Other than that, though, I have been keeping up with Sea Salt cleanings and healing seems to be going smoothly so far. I can't wait until it's completely healed!
