Don't let the title fool you, this was not some drunken, spontaneous decision. My voyage into the bod mod world started as soon as I turned 18 and got a tattoo. I had always proclaimed that I wasn't a piercing girl and would get more ink before I would ever pierce anything. Riiiiiight. It wasn't too long after (maybe a year) before I got an industrial in my right ear, and then just this last October got my tongue done. While discussing getting my tongue done with a friend at school I secretly confided that the only other piercing I had ever considered was "down there". Instead of being shocked she told me her best friend back home had just gotten it done and said it was no big deal. As I was broke, however, and already gung ho about the tongue, I settled on just getting that done for the time being.

At a party one night, while discussing Spring Break with one of the girls I was going with, I happened to mention that I had considered getting my hood pierced (this was almost 5 months after talking to my other friend). She got really excited and said there was a piercing place down the street from the house we were staying at in Myrtle Beach and we should get it done together. I did a lot of research on the subject and decided from the pictures that I really preferred the look of the horizontal piercing, even though the stories about added pleasure all came from the vertical. The hoop of the horizontal piercing appealed to me more, but I decided maybe pleasure over aesthetics would be better, so thought I'd get a vertical instead.

We walked down to the piercing place, 4:20, early in the afternoon to talk to the guys there and let them know we had 3, maybe 4 people wanting to get pierced (overall there was a nose, a tragus, and 2 hoods) and that we'd be back later that night. The guy we talked to, Adam, was cool and seemed surprised that I wanted a hood piercing without having my nipples done first (apparently a lot of people do things in that order). Anyway, after giving blood and going out to dinner we returned to the piercing place and began filling out the paperwork.

This was when I first met Mike. He was the only piercer in the shop who did genital piercing and he said he was more comfortable with less people in the room, so I ended up going in with both him and Adam (who was learning) and leaving my 5 friends standing outside. I was comfortable with both the boys and since the piercing room was fairly small, anyway, felt less claustrophobic with just the three of us. I asked him before going in if he pierced horizontal or vertical and he said he COULD do both, but preferred horizontal and he thought that it looked much hotter. I admitted that I agreed and at the last second changed my order from a vertical to a horizontal. I had worn a skirt, so before sitting in the chair I wiggled out of my thong and pulled my skirt up around my hips. Adam had my sit very low in the chair with my legs over his thighs as modified stirrups and "had a look". Everything was good to go so he started setting up his tray of things, telling me not to look. I laughed and said I wasn't scared of needles so not to worry.

Both the boys did a great job of keeping me calm and making me laugh and I wasn't uncomfortable at all, which is saying something considering I'm the only one who has seen my lady parts since sometime way back before puberty. The clamps were cold and a little uncomfortable, but not unbearable, and finally Mike told me to take a deep breath and hold it. The needle burned a little going through, as with most piercings, but it didn't hurt any more than my tongue had (which shocked Adam, I think). I felt a slight pinch when the jewelry went through, but no tugging or pain. And as quickly as that, it was over! My friend who was considering it came and looked and decided she wanted to do it, too, so I got up and let her go.

It has been almost a week and I've had the least amount of trouble with this piercing of all three. There were minimal amounts of pain the first day or two (especially cleanings when it had to be rotated), but no swelling or blood and only small amounts of discomfort. I absolutely love the way it looks, my little silver 14 gauge ring with a black bead, and there is definitely a slight warmth/tingling at cleaning times. The boy I'm sort of seeing, now, can't wait until he gets to see my newest addition ;-)

Overall it's a low maintenance piercing that I would definitely recommend to anyone considering it. Half the fun is knowing you have a dirty little secret that only people you want to tell (or show, hehe) will know about. And so ends my piercing endeavors, as there's nothing else I care to put a hole through, but it definitely ended on a high note.
