Seeing as how I normally wait about a month after a piercing to write-up an experience, I thought what better time to break tradition than now? So here we go..

Here's a little background to start off with. I am a huge body modification enthusiast. Up until this passed Sunday I had 11 piercing ( used to be 12 but I had to retire my lip piercing due to gum erosion ). I was pierced pretty much from the waist up, navel, nipples, tongue, nose and ears, but wanted a genital mod. I was thinking about getting my hood pierced for quite some time ( about two years ) and did quite a bit of research via BME and friends' experiences to figure out which one would suit me best ( horizontal or vertical ). Finally, I decided when the time came I would get a vertical hood piercing.

Now fast-forward to Sunday, January 11th , 2004 - the day after my 19th birthday. I had awaken from a night partying with some of my friends from IAM as well as my best friend and boyfriend at Niagara Falls. We had tones of fun, but when I woke up all I could think about was the appointment I had made with Russ. After we ate a late brunch and checked out we hit the road, destination: Alliston.

The drive up was horrendous. The snow was terrible and we ended up falling behind schedule by stopping to help a girl whose car had ran off the road. But at 7:30pm we walked through the door of FOXX Works. I had major butterflies in my stomach as I filled out the form and talked to Russ about the piercing and the possibility to stretch it in the future as it was being done with a 14ga curved barbell. Once the paper work was done Russ led me upstairs and began setting up.

Once everything was ready Russ laid out his tools and asked me to lay down to make sure he had the right sized jewelry out. We talked for a few more minutes about the piercing. He told me to try not to hold my breath as it may cause dizziness and , of course, try not to kick him in the face when the needle goes through.

Everything was ready as I laid down and took a few deep breaths. Russ cleaned the area, marked the spot and inserted the receiving tube, which in and of itself felt very weird. Then he got the needle, coached me through my breathing and pushed it through. I felt a sharp pain shoot down my leg and then up my torso and let out a long exaggerated "Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuch" followed by an "aaaaaaaaaah..okay" . A wee bit painful I must say. Russ made sure I was okay as he told me the worst part was over. Then he got the jewelry and chased the needle with a 14ga curved barbell. I could feel him twisting the ball on the end and then he was done. He was surprised that I hadn't bled at all seeing as how genital piercing have a tendency to bleed. I propped myself up to take a look at it after he had wiped me off a bit. It looked amazing! He got the exact placement I had been picturing and it just looked so perfect. I hopped off the table, put a bit of paper towel in my panties just in case I bled on the way home, pulled my pants up and giggled a bit. Then I made the hard trip down the stairs, yeah walking felt funny to say the least.

The ride home that night was less than pleasant. We were driving home in a small snow storm and had lots of bumps on the road. As soon as I got home I rushed to the washroom to make sure everything was okay down there. There was a tiny spot of blood but nothing major, I was relieved.

Now, it's two days later and I'm doing excellent. In the shower yesterday there was a bit of stinging but no real pain. When I got home from class last night there was a bit of blood on the panty liner I had worn but I am sure it was because I had to squat down a few times during the course of the day, not to mention my lovely, bumpy bus ride to and from school.

All-in-all I am quite happy I chose to get my hood pierced. It looks absolutely amazing and once it heals will feel equally amazing ( so I am told ) *wink*. I definitely recommend this piercing to anyone looking for something different. However, while it is a fun piercing wait until you know it is the right piercing for you. I waited two years before going through with it, and while I am happy with my decision; results may vary. But, like all body mods, if you've done your research and are ready for it; go for it!
