somewhat graphic, but not that bad. at least i didn't post a picture of fgm (female genital mutilation, where they cut the lips off) .... *shudders*

and now it's time for random impulses. (i hate those. unfortunately, i have a *lot* of them.)

so, i got a vertical hood piercing today. it hurt, yes, but only for about thirty seconds.

plus it was only $35. i went to skyline tattooing & piercing on lee hwy. (as far as i know, *all* piercings there are only $35, "exotic" like mine or "mundane" like a tongue or a nose piercing.)

the reason i say "only" is because the place i was *going* to get it done at (east coast, where i'd been mod-deflowered) wanted $80 - $100. !!!! .... no, thanks. as it is, i have no money left - hopefully i'll get some tomorrow so i can eat during the break at my college classes. o_O (randomness : i get really really bitchy if i dpn't eat every other hour)

so. my friend, reanna, who also has a hood piercing (albeit horizontal) paid for it - of course she is going to get reimbursed by my husband.

i decided on the piercing late saturday night while perusing bme pictures & experiences. of course, i researched it as much as i could on a somewhat short notice, but i think i did a pretty good job, considering.... i decided to get it done then, on saturday, and yesterday, i told reanna and michael that we were going to get my hood pierced.

michael put up several fights about it, and had a negative opinion at first, but once he saw it, he liked it. typical.

anyhoo. we walk in and pay up front, and i go to the bathroom, and wash myself. once done, i walk back out into the teeny closet-like room where i'm to get my newest mod (four down, one to go...so far i have my nipples, navel, and now hood pierced. i'd like to get my tongue done over spring break.), re and m in tow. as it is, four people can barely fit into the room, so they flank me while i lie with my legs spread, trying not to concentrate on the piercer's gloved hands putting the retriever tube in me.

he made a couple of jokes to put us at ease, and tells me to relax, that it will only take a second. i feel an instant of pain, and my hips buck (unlike the common instantly-closed-legs reaction), causing the piercer to laugh and tell me to take a deep breath - i suppose i'm lucky that he wasn't inexperienced and didn't pierce my lips instead of my hood.

i'm pretty sensitive to pain, but at least it didn't hurt for that long. he put the needle in and left it for a second while he got the jewellry ready (a pretty silver ring with a matching ball - i'm sort of disappointed that i don't "match" - my nipples and navel have silver rings with hematite balls in them) and then slid the needle through, quickly replacing it with the jewellry.

i'm happy that i didn't scream or even make a noise, let alone put a death grip on either mchael or reanna. i just kept the pain inside, i suppose. i know that sounds all angsty, but i'm surprised that i didn't really let on how much it hurt for that one instant - i've been brought up to express myself no matter what, which can sometimes be a pain in the ass, for myself and others.

there was an odd thing, though - i'm not sure if this is just me or what, but michael said that afterwards, my kitty was quivering. *laughs* re said it's because there're tons of nerves down there, but i still found that somewhat embarrassing, idno...anyhoo. yeah.

all in all, it was a pretty cool experience. bring a maxi pad if you're a bleeder, and buy the clear (white?) dial soap before you go - trust me, i speak from personal experience. the orange kind is way harsh.

oh yes - a lot of upkeep the first week or so. *always wash your hands* before you clean it three - five times a day with the above-mentioned soap (it's what the piercer will most likely reccommend if they're good and experienced enough), being careful *not* to touch it except when you're washing it, and have to move the ring around.

if you decide to get it done, i would say to GO FOR IT! it makes everything (crossing your legs, walking, sex...duh...) so much more pleasurable. :) aside from the upkeep (like all piercings), it's great.
