In my defence, I had personal reasons for not taking my own advice. The links in here show pictures of various stages of the procedure, though you need to have BME hard membership to view them I retired my triangle in February 2003, largely because it wasn't in the correct position and tended to get in the way of rather than augment sensation. Since I originally got it as part of a demonstration of commitment to Allan, I wanted to replace it with something equally significant and he was willing to attempt it. During a play piercing session about 6 months earlier, he had successfully pierced my clitoris with a fine hypodermic needle. I was acutely aware just how intense a sensation that was. So, though I am very much in favour of feeling and savouring every part of the piercing process, I thought the chances of me keeping still long enough to go through with the procedure was slim, without some form of anaesthesia.Strike one
We chose a day when the kids were not around. Its uncanny how small children can detect the presence of a fresh piercing and clamber all over you until the make contact with a knee, elbow or something else equally hard and pointy! The 1.2mm cannulated needle and 1mm microbarbell, selected to reduce the chance of twisting, were already autoclaved. Then at the last minute the packet with the barbell went missing. Never mind we also had a tiny 1.2mm CBR which would do, though there would be an added risk of twisting caused by the pressure of my relatively "meaty" outer labia. Now for the numbing! We used sprayable xylocaine, a lidocaine preparation. It took about 30 seconds for the anaesthetic affect to take away the incredibly unpleasant burning sensation. In retrospect I wish we had found a way to limit the distribution of the lidocaine to my clitoris. Its effect on mucous membranes was eye-watering! We waited 15 minutes until for the anaesthetic to work and then it was time. I lay back, rather dramatically, on the table in my front room. I was able to see the sea as well as the top of Allan's head.Allan pierced me. Oh my! One thing was clear. The lidocaine had not penetrated that deeply into my clitoris. I felt every micron of the needle's progress. Like my play piercing experience, the sensation was unlike any other. It was deep and appeared to go right up through my body. I get the faintest hint of a similar sensation when I see, or read about people with terrible injuries. I don't know if anyone else gets that or whether I am just strange! Still at least the worst was over, and the needle was perfectly horizontal. Allan waited for me to catch my breath and took some photographs. The jewellery put up a fight. The CBR was the same size as the cannula, not smaller, so it wasn't a simple matter of feeding it through. Allan tweaked poked and pulled my clit about for what felt like an eternity, then stopped. I was thinking "phew, glad that's over" when Allan told me that it wasn't in. I believe I may have uttered an unseemly stream of expletives! Once more he started trying to get the ring through. Unfortunately the ring separated from the cannula and the latter fell out with the ring three quarters of the way through. Allan had a few more attempts at finding the exit hole, getting about 7/8ths of the way, but alas not all the way through. I reached the point where I couldn't take any more and we stopped. It was rapidly overtaking childbirth as my most painful experience!
Strike two
We had a brief discussion about what to do next. Allan suggested trying again since it might be days, even weeks before we could do it again. I wasn't overly keen since the problem with the size of the jewellery with respect to the cannula wasn't going to alter. Then Allan found the 1mm barbell and off we went again.I don't know if the lidocaine had worn off, whether my clitoris was sensitised from all the poking it had already endured or whether it was something in my head. But this time when Allan pierced me, the feeling really was indescribable. I tried to keep still but failed miserably. I made an involuntary grab for Allan's arm and preventing him getting the needle through straight. This time we did make the sensible decision to abandon proceedings.
It took a few hours for the burning from the lidocaine to go away, and though my clitoris was a little sensitive for the rest of the day, it had recovered by the following morning. Despite the lack of any repercussions, it was some time before either of us were ready to try again.
Strike three
Its important to learn from your mistakes. A month or so later we were ready to try again. We warmed up by piercing my tragus, a highly successful experience, which you can read about here if you are interested. We used lidocaine again, but this time we sprayed a small quantity into a tiny shot glass, which I upended over my clitoris and hood. Fifteen minutes later I couldn't feel a thing and we were ready to go.I barely felt the needle this time and what I did feel was more movement and vibration of the needle than discomfort. within seconds the needle was out, leaving the cannula behind. The barbell fitted easily through, Allan screwed on the ball and we were done.
I repaid the compliment by installing a lorum on Allan, but that is another story! Afterwards I was bleeding a bit, but that stopped after a few minutes. I waited nervously for the anaesthetic to wear off. There was a twenty-minute spell of light burning courtesy of the lidocaine. For the rest of that day and most of the next I was aware of my clitoris all the time. A pleasant warm tingling! Within two days it went back to feeling normal. Though unlikely, to all intents and purposes the piercing appeared to be fully healed after three days. Unfortunately it wasn't quite straight. Though I could tuck it neatly inside my hood, there was a tendency for twisting due to uneven pressure. Since the barbell was very fine, I decided to stretch up to 1.8mm as soon as possible to avoid migration. Firstly I used the original cannula to slip over the barbell, remove the jewellery an d replace it with a 1.2mm CBR . That was easy, so barely a fortnight after the initial piercing I took a bath and. It was surprisingly easy to get a taper in and unsurprisingly sensitive to stretch. It felt like pins and needles, but concentrated in my clitoris rather than spread out in some extremity. I took a good hour, rebuffing several attempts from the kids to gain entry to the bathroom. At one point I was wondering if I could walk with the taper in, since getting it back out again was seemingly as difficult as getting it through. However I kept easing the taper in and eventually it went through and the CBR went in without a struggle. The stretch settled down after a few hours but alas the ring just accentuated the annoying asymmetry of the piercing.
For a month or so I tried to even the piercing up, but it wasn't to be, it was as twisted as ever. I convinced myself that having done it three times I could always try a fourth! With considerable regrets I removed it. For a couple of days there was a slight hard patch where the ring had been, but that faded quickly and it was as though it had never happened. Despite all the trials and tribulations and the risks we took, I'm glad we did this thing for themselves. Of course I can't condone my actions and would urge anyone considering a clitoral piercing to see a professional.
As for the future, I'm planning on having a hood split. With the additional space I might just try again, though who knows, perhaps I should have another crack at a triangle!
