After a hiatus from being pierced (2 years is too long for _any_body), I decided to get my old reverse prince albert re- pierced. I previously had a 10 gauge in there, which I thought was placed too far forward, and an 8 gauge that I thought a bit to far back. So, I decide to go for a 6 gauge (make it worth my while) and pray for rain. I bought the jewelry online from an old favourite (pleasurable.com), and the ring was sent without too much hassle (A quick note on buying from them: your billing address must be the same as the shipping address you use –I hope that can be fixed soon). Naturally, I was quite excited when the (somewhat heavy) 6 gauge captive ball ring arrived at my apartment. A nice thing about having the jewelry in your hands before going is that you can hold it up, see where it fits, imagine the path it will probably take, and notice what could have been done better in earlier piercings. So, going into this, I had a somewhat specific idea of what I want ed the result to look like (yes, more detailed than just going in through the urethra and out through the top =P).

And now to find the piercer... I was referred to Sean by a rather trustworthy friend of mine (danke, tooki =]), and did a bit of research here on BME. He definitely looked competent. Decided to get some food beforehand – always a good idea. After feeding up, I got a ride down there, gave him the autoclaved jewelry (I work in a hospital environment), and he went to set up the room. I noticed he used aseptic procedure near dogmatically, which I appreciated, as I think the piercer should be more paranoid about such things than the piercee [sp?]. And so we go through the usual stuff, get up on the chair, drop 'em, and put this clean cloth with a hole in it over top of the staging area... a familiar routine which, of course, did not stop the old penis- knowing- what- is- coming shrinkage from happening. So, I point out where I would like the piercing to go, we mark it off after wiping the flesh with alcohol, and he gets ready, lubing up the pyrex guide tube. Enter casual jokin g, begin god- awful pain of the guide tube and self- questioning as to why my urethra didn't come pre- expanded to the size of a big gulp straw at birth. I hear the good old "now take a deep breath" and was actually impressed: this being the third piercing in the same area, there was a good bit more scar tissue to punch through, and I was expecting a long, painful session more akin to leather-punching than anything else. Fortunately, he was damn quick about it (granted, it was more painful than either of the first two, but the pain was brief). My only worry was that with speed might come inaccuracy, but upon looking at the bloody mess, my fears were allayed -the piercing was perfectly placed, just where I wanted it to be. As it stands, the piercing is not far forward enough to be in danger of tearing in the course of any activities, and not so far back as to be uncomfortably restricting to the stretching of the glans. Afterwards, I went and got some ice cream (see kid s, piercings can be fun!), and made it an early night of Vice City, ki m chee, and peanuts.

Third day in now, and I have been very pleasantly surprised at the lack of pain I am experiencing. I figure this could be caused by the previous piercings causing some desensitization, the larger bore of the piercing, or the OxyContin I have been buying off of Rush Limbaugh (joke, joke... no painkillers for me). Also have been seeing markedly less bleeding than in any of the previous RPA's (weird, huh?). I have my good old bottle of Provon at hand every morning (taking care not to wash it to irritation), and a gallon of sea salt/ distilled water mixture (courtesy of the shop) for whenever I have a free second to soak. Already, I am a convert to the "bigger gauge = better healing" camp... and can now start to actually feel the extra weight, which is an added bonus =]. Also, the other gauges seemed a bit small for the piercing, and this looks a hundred times better.

If you are in MD, I would defiantly suggest having Sean do the piercing (I know his contact info is around BME somewhere)... professional as all hell, and it seems he really knows what he is doing. Overall, I would say this is the most pleased I have been with a genital piercing so far, and –of course- encourage others to get it as well.
