When I first told a few friends of mine about my intentions to get a genital piercing done, a RPA to be specific, some were skeptical. My friend Gareth, who's gotten his nipples and eyebrow done, encouraged me vehemently to join the scene. Looking back, I'm glad he was there to assure and comfort me about it. I was incredibly intimidated, but I'd done enough research on the piercing I would be getting to know that is was a fairly routine and 'simple' procedure.
At A Glance Author Gavril Contact Gavril@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Jason King Studio Psycho Tattoo Location Marietta (Roswell Area Store) I got it done on a Monday afternoon by a very amicable piercer by the name of Jason. Very professional, very clean, but the store is so popular that he didn't have much time to talk to me about my piercing after the deed was done. I already knew what I'd have to do for aftercare, so it was only confirmation of what I'd have to do that was necessary. The actual procedure was quick, and only mildly painful. After paying and filling out the normal paperwork, I went back and had it done. I was very nervous, but Jason talked me through it, and nothing was unexpected. There was a point, after he got the receiving tube in, where I thought he had already started. Much to my chagrin, the needle hadn't even touched the skin yet. A rather nasty pinching feeling came over me, but I kept breathing during the process. After the ring was in, no more pain. I was amazed. He bandaged me up and sent me on my way, with a new ten gauge, 5/8" CBR in my penis. I thought it looked great.
I was walking a bit shakily as I was leaving, but I felt good. Adrenaline was keeping me happy, for the moment.
I cleaned it later that night, and kept it lightly bandaged. I still do, about five days later. It's minimal bleeding, but I did something stupid. Sure, no sex for two weeks... alright, that makes sense. Masturbation should be fine, though, right? Less friction. Needless to say, it was nice, but it's a bit frightening to ejaculate blood. That problem was only minor, and bleeding was quick to stop. I learned my lesson thanks to that frightening display. Cleaning the bugger is painless, despite minor MINOR burning from moving the piercing around in the wound, but even that becomes less and less by the day. The male morning condition causes a bit of bleeding and discomfort, but I suspect bleeding will stop altogether over the next few days. All in all, this piercing is easily one of the simplest ones to take care of. Genital piercings also seem to remain clean, because you don't idly play with a genital piercing like you might a facial piercing.
It's a slightly awkward piercing to accommodate, because most other body parts don't swell up to 2.5 their normal size when your thoughts drift to less wholesome activities, and the male morning condition WILL suck. Sleeping is also a pain in the ass, considering I'm one of those people who can only sleep on my side or back. I find that a pillow or a blanket set between your knees (while sleeping on your side) helps greatly, but you can always expect to be woken up by the male morning condition. Lord knows my sleeping patterns have been shot to shit thanks to the piercing, but I'm glad I got it done, to be honest. It looks great, and feels great when not being rubbed against articles of clothing.
Cleaning, as I mentioned, is a very simple task. Relatively painless, barring the soap you'll inevitably get in your urethra, but that's not terrible. Make sure to urinate after you clean and rinse the piercing, to cleanse your urethra of any soap. One thing to note... if you end up fretting over 'loss of sensitivity', like I did (because I DID seem to lose sensitivity), try a nice long sea salt soak, with some warm water. I guarantee that the skin will be much more sensitive after it's softened. The soaps you'll have to use, which are generally rather hard, WILL dry the skin out, and decrease sensitivity. Don't go putting lotion on it, though, you might inadvertently cause an infection, and no one wants an infection down there.
So far, the piercing has been treating me well. It doesn't hurt at all when you're just sitting there, but walking might be a bit uncomfortable after a while. I suggest purchasing some loose gym shorts to wear as an undergarment. It's what I'm wearing right now, and I'm so thankful I actually bought them. Catching your piercing on the inseam of your boxers when you lift your leg is a very sucky experience. I honestly can't wait for the tenderness to go away. I also plan to gauge it up to an eight, or maybe more, if it heals nicely.
All in all, a great piercing experience. One that gave me a new outlook on piercings in general, since I thought I would be all but crippled during the healing. Come to find out, it's relatively painless while healing. If you're contemplating genital piercing, this, in my opinion, is the one to get. Any PA, really. Easy, clean, relatively low healing time... just get it professionally done. Don't want any nerve damage, right?
