I hate stories that sound like this, but here it goes.
At A Glance Author Hunter Jackson Contact Hunter Jackson@bme.anon IAM hunterjackson When A week ago Artist Sarah Wooten Studio Body Rites Location Columbia, SC It all started out on a Tuesday when I went into Body Rites to chat and just hang out with the gang. I also needed a new septum retainer as Carolynne had stolen mine the weekend earlier. While I was there I saw that they had some new jewelry in. They were finally able to get some good surface bars! They were Anatometal (BarryB), so I knew they were of top quality.
I spoke to Frank, the owner, about them, and he thought that I already knew that they had been put into stock. We had been hoping for months to do a surface project on my hand, but we realized that due to my hobbies it would not work. Where we wanted to put it I have huge gashes from many of my animals, mainly my Chinese Water Dragon. That would not be good nor hygienic with my handling different reptiles and exotic mammals all the time.
Throughout the week I thought about what I wanted to have done. My piercer finally arrived on iam, her name is Sarah Wooten. She has done every single piercing that I have thus far, and she has done a great job on every single one. We spoke online and in person throughout the week about what I wanted to be done with the surface bar. I finally was looking around the genital galleries on bmezine.com and decided that I wanted a surface pubic piercing. Most of the ones that I saw were horizontal, but I preferred the idea of the vertical piercing.
I sent Sarah Wooten many im's about what I wanted. She had done a few horizontal pubic piercings, but not a vertical. We decided to try it as I am an aftercare fanatic, and I tend to take very good care of my piercings. Also, I am in Body Rites a couple times a week anyways, so she would be able to monitor the piercing.
On Friday, I went to see and pickup Carolynne at school. I spent the night there, and on Saturday, after Carolynne's dress rehearsal at 2:00, we were going to leave to make it to Columbia before 6:30 so that I would be able to get the piercing on Saturday.
Well, Carolynne's rehearsal went over, so we did not get to leave Greenwood until about 4:15, but it was still in time for us to make it to Body Rites to get the piercing with time to spare.
We finally got back to Columbia, and were greeted by Shannon Purvis-Mckenzie and her husband Frank who own Body Rites. We spoke for a while, and then Sarah came out and was ready for me. She grabbed a disposable measuring strip so we could mark the piercing area.
We went back into the room, and Sarah cleaned the measuring strip, and had me lay down on the table. She began to clean the area to be pierced. Then she had me stand up so she would be able to mark me correctly. After a couple of minutes, I was all marked up, and ready for the final cleaning.
Sarah told me she was coming over to the table, and asked if I had any questions. I had one, I asked how the surface bar would be going into the area, due to its shape. She explained that connected to the 14 gauge needle, she would have a taper attached, and then the surface bar would be screwed onto the taper. Sounded simple enough.
Sarah came over and asked me to begin concentrating on my breathing, which I did. In through my nose and out through my mouth. This helped calm me down, even though I was more scared for this piercing than any other piercings I have received, including being hooked for suspension Carolynne stayed at my head as the procedure continued. Finally I heard the dreaded words "Take a deep breath in, let it out, and the piercing would be done." I did this, I breathed in, started to breath out, and I felt the sharp prick of the needle, then it stopped and started back again. The pain was not what I expected, it was sharp, but not intense. She had hit her marks perfectly, as she always does.
She had me continue to breath as described above while she inserted the jewelry. This part did hurt a bit, but not too bad. Shortly after, we were all done, and she began to screw on the internally threaded discs. We used flat back discs as they would be less likely to get caught on any clothing or anything else of the sort.
After we were done, I lay there for a minute to catch my breath, and to stop feeling dizzy. I sat up, feeling alright, I got off the table and went to look at the piercing. It looked great, perfectly straight, and everything that I had wanted.
I dressed and tipped her in her jar. Carolynne and I went to sit out in the lobby so I could have a cup of water. I felt great, it looked great.
A couple of days later we had to change the jewelry to a smaller surface bar due to the fact that the piercing moved when I was sitting or moving in certain positions. Since then, I have had very few problems. I remind myself that this is a surface piercing, and it has a high possibility of rejection. We did everything to make sure that it would heal as well as possible.
For reference we used an Anatometal Stainless Steel internally threaded surface bar with flat back discs. To clean the piercing I use sea salt soaks (1/4 tsp to 8 oz of warm distilled water), and Satin Soap. So far so good. I am without complaints.
If anyone has any questions about this piercing, feel free to email me or im me through my iam page, hunterjackson. I also recommend Body Rites in Columbia, SC who's piercers are Sarah Wooten and Shannon Purvis-Mckenzie.
Thanks to the people mentioned above, and to all the people at BME for making this a place that we can learn about all the great things in the Body Mod world!
