I've wanted to get a pubic piercing for years now, but something always kept me from it; which everyone knows means I obviously didn't want it badly enough. Once I decided it was time to actually get it, it didn't take me long to decide to go to Living Art. I looked at work from every shop in town and Jason was the only artist whose work was of consistently high quality.
At A Glance Author Brian Contact Brian@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Jason Studio Living Art Location Huntington, WV The day I decided to get my piercing I called the studio ahead of time just to be certain they had no issues with doing male pubics and to make sure I had enough cash on me to cover the procedure plus tip, hate to be caught short. The owner was rather incredulous that I would have to ask if they did the procedure but, in this area, many of the piercers refuse to do male genital piercing.
When my fiancée and I arrived at Living Art around 7:30 they were pretty busy but everyone was waiting for a tat so I was able to head straight back to the piercing area with Jason. On the way back to the piercing area we passed by a couple of the local co-eds getting some tattoos touched up and I was immediately dubbed "pubic man" and was hit with multiple, "I wanna see it when it's done!" I would have been more than happy to show off my new work once I had it but my fiancée put an end to that idea almost immediately. If you are reading this, blame her girls, not me!
Once we got to the back room the first thing I did was ask him about the tendency for pubics to migrate out and if he had any tips or hints to prevent that happening. To his credit, he told me that it happens and there is really nothing you can do about it. I was relieved to know that he was honest about the chances because I've known too many piercers who are more than willing to simply tell the client whatever they want to hear. It turned out that Jason had been busy all day and really needed a cigarette so we went and hung out behind the shop while he had a couple (if someone is piercing me, I want their hands steady.) As a side bonus to this, we got a chance to just hang-out and bullshit and develop a sort of rapport that is part of any good piercing experience.
A few minutes later we were back in the shop and Jason went to make the jewelry. My fiancée and I hung out in the front of the shop while he was working on the barbell and a couple of new guys who had come in during the interim looked at me like I must be insane to put something sharp anywhere near that area.
In just a couple minutes we headed back to the piercing area and Jason started sterilizing everything, since we had about 15 minutes, we headed back out for more smokes and bullshit. One cigarette, and a small case of nerves on my part later, it was back inside and time to get this thing done.
As I lay on the table and dropped my pants my genitalia did its damnedest to run back inside me and hide from the needle but, thankfully, I wasn't getting anything done to the penis itself so that didn't present much of a problem. It just gave Jason a story to tell to his other customer's about the guy hung like a baby, hehe. Once Jason marked the spot, my fiancée took a look just to ease my nerves, and we were ready to go. During the procedure itself there was no real pain at all, only a kind of rough tugging as the barbell passed through. I would guess it took a total of 30 seconds for the actual procedure itself from start to finish. I jumped up, paid the $55 (dirt cheap for the work quality) and listened as Jason talked me through the after-care; just to be sure I knew what to do. As an added bonus, since Jason knows pubics have a tendency to migrate, he gives a 30-day guarantee on them. If it starts to migrate out and you contact him within 30 days (not see him, contact him) he will redo it, free of charge.
I'm still getting used to seeing it when I look in the mirror, but so far I really like it and there has been almost zero pain of any kind. If you are in the Huntington, WV area and looking to get some work done I can't recommend Jason highly enough, I know I'll be going back for more work.
