Browsing through the BME Image galleries, some time ago, I came to the section on pubic piercing, looked interesting so I figured that more investigation was in order. I especially liked the ones that had some pubic tattooing surrounding the piercing. Being one of those that mark on their calendar the times that I will be spontaneous, I put the idea aside for a while till it was known for sure that this was one that I wanted to have done. It was, as my research indicated, not really a simple procedure like a single hafada where one really can't go too far wrong with placement, as long as it's more or less level at the time of the piercing, that part of the body tends to change shape at irregular intervals.

I would also have to find a tattoo that I could live with, as it would be with me for a while. There would be lots of time for the tattoo research as the piercing would have to be well healed before the tattooing could be done. There was also a matter of finding a tattoo artist that I was comfortable with, I am particular as to who does what to my pudgy little body.
Naturally, I went to go see Jody to find out more about the pros and cons of this type of piercing. One of the things that she mentioned, was that this piercing, as it is a surface piercing, the jewelry should be a surface bar, as this cuts down on the chance of rejection. I have a fear of rejection. Later when I was looking for a tattoo artist, Jody was also able recommend someone I would like in that area as well.
Finally, after the shop had been finished, inspected, it passed with flying colours I might add, and stocked, we were able to set a date for the procedure to be done. I have always enjoyed being pierced by Jody but not always possible till now. I'm not sure which one of us looked forward to the piercing more, me because it was a new style piercing for me, ya, I know, got a whole bunch of them, but this was a new area, or for her because she was getting back to doing what she loves, piercing.
The shop,Anatomic Adornments, is in the back of a clothing store. After my usual pre-piercing ritual, one expensive beer and one cheap cheeseburger, I got to the shop a mere two hours early. They were still getting ready for the opening but I'm a lucky guy, after some small talk about the important things, piercing and tattoos, it was time to do the dastardly deed. YAY!
She had a choice of jewelry, a ¾ " and a 1" surface bar, we discussed placement and which would look better on the body, the short or the long one on the bottom. If I liked the piercing there would be another pubic done later, I hate lonely piercings and will double and triple if I can. It was decided that the short one below the long would look better in the long run. We went into the cool blue piercing room.
Going through the pre-piercing drill, I dropped my pants and got the camera ready to go and she did the important stuff and got everything ready to do the piercing, I noticed that everything was single use or came out of the package that it had been autoclaved in. I stood in front of the exam table while she brought out the micrometer and the ruler to get the placement just right. There is more to this piercing than I thought, after a few tries we were happy with the placement from both points of view, it was time to get on the table, oh boy! lavender, rats, it hadn't come in yet.
Oh well, I'll just have to breath really deep and slow and pretend we had it, never been pierced without before, told you I was spoiled. I got into the breathing routine and Jody joined in with the count after a minute or so, one and two and three and a little poke and there it is was, another piercing and the jewelry was in. I just lay there breathing while she put on the bead, I was in shock. That was all there was to it, she was kidding right? had to be, hardly felt a thing. Jody got out the camera a took a few pictures and downsized the guiches I had written about last time. I got off the table and got dressed while she cleaned up.
Back in the main part of the shop to take care of the formalities, paying and getting the sea salt and soap for the aftercare, we discussed other piercings and downsizing that I have planned. I had tried her sea salt with essential oils before and it did wonders for the nipple that I had bumped and had been rather ticked off at me, until a couple of soaks with the sea salt and the next morning, yes, the very next morning, the nipple was merely annoyed with me, great stuff. It is now the next day, the new piercing hasn't bothered me at all. I think that where it is on the body there is not much movement and that makes for a happy piercing.
If you are in the Vancouver area and find yourself in need of a pleasant piercing experience, well, as pleasant as someone poking holes in your skin can be, go visit Jody and Syx, can't forget Syx, he might be poking me later on down the road, and I like my piercers happy, well fed, in a good mood and not mad at me.
