just a pubic |
| ||||||||||||||||
I guess I could start with my history. Got my navel done a couple years ago (took it out, though as I didn't like how it looked on me), moved to the tongue (still at a silly 12 gauge) . . . nipples (12 gauge), PA - then I switched that to an apadrayva (that's at 10 gauge - I'm thinking I should get something bigger).I hope that makes everyone happy with history.
Ok - maybe not. It started just as a curiosity (sound familiar?) with getting my navel done, and it grew from there. I was in Cleveland and went to Body Work Productions and liked them very much. There I had everything else done. My nipple rings migrated, so I had to take them out.
Now that I'm back in Philly, Kristin at Infinite is my piercer, I hope.
She did my nipples (that was the second time they were done). We clicked very well, and she has an Ohio background, so we had something in common to chat about. That's what I call good luck. She did those very well, even not letting me sit up until the nipples clotted. That was certainly different.
We've talked about some piercings in our discussions after getting my nipples redone, but after looking around (mostly on BME), I decided to go with a pubic. I liked how it looked and decided it'd be something different.
That's really all there was to it. Sure, I like to be pierced. I can't see how you'd get more than one piercing if you didn't like to be pierced.
Kristin reminded me that it is a surface piercing (something I hadn't realized before). She showed me a surface bar to begin with. I may have gone with that, but I didn't really think it added anything. For a nape or spinal, it seems fine. I just didn't think it added anything to the area. Also, I was told that once the bar is in - you're stuck with it. I want to eventually move to a circular barbell, so I went with the ring to begin with. I'll get the cicruclar barbell sometime in the future.
The actual piercing wasn't all that bad. Kristin marked it (very well, too - good placement). After a few minutes of getting the placement, I was clamped. That did take a little while. For the life of me, I cannot remember why it took so long to get me clamped, but it did. It felt like a lot more skin than I realized. I braced hard. Kristin chuckled and reminded me that I went through the apadravya, so this will probably feel like nothing. I didn't really believe her, because the clamps felt as if they were picking up a lot of skin. Typical breathing that we all know followed, and in went the needle as I exhaled. Frankly, it didn't feel like much. Most others hurt more, this one didn't feel so bad.
So, yes, I braced more than I needed to.
In went the ring. I looked at it, and loved how it looked. Kristin reminded me that healing will be awhile. I'd need lots of salt water soakings. The ring will probably migrate (she warned me about that before I chose it), but seems to be holding up very well. I like how it feels, also, sitting right where it is.
We chuckled about my bracing after I put my clothing back on.
I wasn't wrapped up, and Kristin said that I probably wouldn't need to be. This piercing doesn't bleed all that much.
I drove home with no problems. No spots whatsoever, either, on anything I was wearing. I put some soft toilet paper down there before I went to bed - just to be sure. I woke up with a little blood, but not much.
As for aftercare, I haven't exactly been following the recommended procedure. I'm soaking, but not a lot. I should be, as the crusties are still there after the first month. Sometimes there's some discomfort at night, but nothing too bad. It's still a little red and I'm hoping that'll go away soon.
Of course, I know that this one will take a long time to heal. That's the part I just don't like - trying to get it clean. Some of the discomfort comes from the crusties that are there (I wish I could find a better word than crusties).
The only real problem so far (minor discomfort is not a real problem)is the fact that sometimes the barbell from the apadravya gets caught in the ring. I'm hoping that the switch to the circular barbell will fix that soon. Soon? I'm crazy. . . I can't switch that anytime soon. Oh well.
All in all, again, I'm happy I did it. I'm pleased with all of its effects.
