Now it might be a strange thing to think of having a PA as a first piercing. Well not quite a first, I'd had my ear pierced but it had gone badly due to a poor quality piercer using a gun through cartilage. But it's in fact quite logical, since having it done I've had a couple more piercing and they've been a piece of cake! I mean, you may as well jump in at the deep end!
At A Glance Author Havok Contact Havok@bme.anon When Six months ago Artist Stuart Studio Urban Piercings Location Reading, Berkshire, UK I had a friend through rowing that had it done, and while drunk at his wedding I asked him about it. He told me that it had massively improved his sex life and he gave me some good advice about having it done, especially to seek out a good studio and to really be sure that i wanted to have it done. So I started researching the piercing. I have a fair amount of spare time time on my hands as I am a student at Oxford Brookes and so i started the research. I started with wikipedia, whose article is pretty informative really, a little impersonal maybe but it gives you the facts and also, which i feel is really important, a real list of the risks, one without subjection so its a point where you can go, I'm willing to put that on the table and take those risks. I suppose this was about three or four months before i had it done, and after wikipedia I started reading the articles here on BMEzine. I found that there were very few negative experiences, and certainly the one I'm adding isn't one of them.
I started looking around for a good and experienced piercer, because i cat imagine anything worse than taking out your pride and joy and the piercer saying 'So, first time for everything.' With this in mind i started with the Internet looking for local piercers to Oxford. I found two, one that had the the most scary online review, including the words 'if there is a piercer in that day, they're normally inexperienced, under qualified and, if your over sixteen, younger than you.' This, needless to say, put me off slightly. After a few more minutes searching i found the only other one in cowley, which i went to visit. Well, i would have gone to visit it, except for the fact it had disappeared from the face of the earth. Eagle tattoo and piercing was no more, and so, off to the nearest big town it was, that of Reading.
I once again searched Google for piercing shops in Reading, and came up with a fair few results. I found two or three close to the city centre, sort of going by the idea that if they're good they'll have lots of business and therefore be able to afford good property. this sort of logic seemed to work out in my head so i gave them a call and asked for prices and how experienced they were. They both gave me the same price and were more than happy to chat for a bit, ad also asserted that they had ample experience with PA's and that they did them often. This put my mind at ease substantially and I worked out a day I could get on the train and go.
I picked the one closest to the train station due to ease of transport and headed straight there after getting off the train just to check the place out really. The shop wast where it was supposed to be, in a small arcade, instead it had moved to a pretty converted cottage set back from the high street. The place was spacious and friendly, looking better than any piercing shop i could have ever imagined. They had jewellery in big glass cases and a simple desk with friendly staff. One of the guys behind the counter had more facial pierces than I've ever see in my life, and all of them looked well healed and cared for. Again, knowing someone knew their piercings well put me at ease again. I asked about PA again and the man said I'd have to come back in twenty minutes to have it done because the piercer who did them was just out to lunch. He told me i was free to sit ad wait, and the asked me a few questions including my health and whether I'd eaten that day. I hadn't so he sent me away to get some lunch. When I came back i felt pretty much ready to do it, although later the friend I took with me told me she thought I was still going to back out until the minute I walked out of the room with it done.
I signed the usual consent forms and was sent upstairs to the waiting room outside the piercing studio. It was all impeccably clean and well decorated, with magazines and books. There was one guy waiting in front of me for his lip, but apart from that it was fairly quiet. The guy I front was seen to fairly quickly and then I was taken in and assured of the professionalism of the place by the cleanliness and tidiness of the studio. A masseurs bench was at the side of the room and the piercer papered it and asked me to sit down while he described a procedure i had already more than gleaned from the Internet. He made sure I wanted to get it done and then asked me to down my trousers and lay on the bed. He marked me up with a pen and asked me to check it. I waved goodbye to my un-pierced penis and gritted my teeth. He once again explained the procedure, that he would clean the inside of my urethra with a lubed cotton wool bud, then inserted the needle still in its plastic sheath. He then pushed the needle through the plastic and out through the penis. He the pushed the plastic through ad trimmed it back before chasing it through with the jewellery. he clipped the ball in and that was it. All over. Now you may as the reader have noticed that I've so far omited the notion of pain. The cleaning was uncomfortable, the needle in the plastic was painful and the needle through flesh was agonising. I'm not going to lie. It was extremely painful. whoever on here says it isn't has something wrong with them. Everyone I've spoken to in person whose had it done has said it hurt, everyone who put pen to paper appears to believe it didn't. The saving grace is that it only hurt for a few seconds, and then it throbs a little and was sore for a few days. Luckily for me I wasn't a bleeder. a few spots over the ext few days and that was all. After the actual piercing The piercer asked me if I was okay, and then set about explaining the aftercare, most of which I missed because I was about to faint. The piercer asked me again and I said no and had a little sit down while he went and fetched me a couple of glasses of water. I was pretty much a second away from fainting when i sat down, and am still surprised i didn't.
I went rowing the next day for two hour long sessions and it was fine, thankfully didn't get too wet but even with a little river water was not a problem. So if you are a sportsman i wouldn't worry too much. I simply kept to the recommendations of washing it twice or three times a day in warm salty water. Had absolutely no issues with it, except for a little soreness the first time I had sex.
It is now very much a part of me and I struggle not to recommend it, especially of drunken nights out, where I am now well known for getting it out. My girlfriend loves it, and seems to even be quite proud that I have it done. often telling other people to take a look. The best reaction I have ever had is three girls in a nightclub dropping their drinks simultaneously at the sight of it.
