While I was on my winter break from college I was thinking about what I should do for myself in 2008. I make a list of three things I would do, one was getting a Prince Albert (PA). It was out of character for me to do such a thing, well people that know me would say that.
At A Glance Author TheMaster Contact TheMaster@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Erin Duff Studio Chameleon Tattoo & Body Piercing Location Cambridge, MA I started researching PA's since if I were to get one I would prepare myself, I started at bmezine.com, Wikipedia, saw a video on Youtube.com and made a phone call to Chameleon Tattoo & Body Piercing and spoke to the person who did these piercing. However as I started researching I knew there would be two problems, I would have to overcome.
A. I didn't have a dime to my name and my work-study job wouldn't start until the first week of February.
B. my state ID would expire on my birthday, the 5th of February, so I would have to wait until early to mid March before I would be able to get a PA.
Then on the 3rd of February I check the mail since I completely forgot on Saturday and there was a check from my college for over $300. I knew this was a sign, destiny, just really great timing, call it what you will; I knew I was getting a PA that day, after a visit to the ATM, I headed to Cambridge.
When I got to Chameleon, I was told to head over to the jewelry store to sign up for the next available spot, and when I got there the gentleman at the counter told me it would be an hour before I can see Erin Duff who did the genital piercing as she went on her break. I killed some time by getting some fresh air and visiting some stores, the hour past quickly.
I headed back to Chameleon and Erin was ready to see me, I was a little nervous up till this point. The room where she was doing the piercing was and is very clean (you could almost mistake it for a doctor's office). She calmed my nerves by explaining what she was going to do, she asked if I wanted to watch her do it by using the mirror or let her get on with it. I said get on with it; I knew she would do a good job.
She put on gloves, cleaned the penis area and she told me she was going to start by putting in a tube down the urethra, thought she told me she was placing it in, I wasn't expecting the feeling I got from the tube, then a moment later she told me to take a deep breath and hold it as she was about to pierce me. I took a deep breath and the pain was a little intense (the tube was worse); she told me it would be done in a moment and needed to place in the loop. She gave me a mirror to see the PA and I couldn't believe I finally did it; I did something that was "out of character."
She gave me a paper with all the aftercare information and the days of the week she was working. I gave a tip of $20(I should have given her more), and headed home.
When I got home I took off the paper towels she placed on my crotch and saw the piercing, thought some blood it looked good. The next day I headed off the school and told some of my friends I got a piercing. Everyone said "You didn't get a piercing" thinking it was an ear or tongue piercing. I said no, then they were shocked, they thought I went crazy and got a "Nipple ring." I shook my head laughing and tired and simply said "No." They couldn't guess anywhere else because I wouldn't do something insane like get a PA. When I told them that I did get a PA they were beyond shock. One person told me their bubble bust thinking she knew everything about me and she thought I was so innocent, sometimes it good to do something out of character.
It's been less then a week but I'm enjoying it so much (even if it is healing). It has giving me more self confidence about myself, people always see me with a smile on my face. I could never be happier.
If you are interested in getting a PA, do the following: Research, Talk to people, Make phone calls to local piercing places. When you do get your own PA remember one more thing: Tip the person who does your piercing.
Had I chickened out I may have regretted not doing something I wanted to do for me. Also it makes a great birthday present to yourself (Happy 23rd to Me!)
