This is my experience with my PA. I got one about four years ago, lost it about a year ago, and got it back a few months ago...

BME was great – the wealth of info that showed and explained what the piercing possibilities were was liberating. I had next to no idea that guys and girls got pierced below the belt – my fantasies had barely left the ears / nose area, so the info, experiences and photos on BME was a real mind opener.
I did a heap of reading on BME – I covered off just about every story they had and checked out the photos of the various piercings. Initially I wanted an ampallang or a tongue piercing, but after ingesting all the information on BME, I decided to get a PA. I was swung towards this for a couple of main reasons: It was hidden from regular view and attention, and the aftercare seemed the easiest. From a purely personal point of view I didn't want the attention a visible piercing would have brought to me, and as a novice, I was cautious regarding after care and the problems that could have come up.
It was about another year before I worked up the courage to make the appointment to have it done. I hadn't spoken to anybody about it, and was very nervous what my friends or family would think if they found out. I also wanted to get it straight in my own mind as to why I liked and wanted it. When I made the decision I felt like I was truly taking control of my body, and it gave me a sense of power and confidence in myself that I'd rarely felt - maybe it was just a good week!
So, finally, I made the appointment, drove into Prahran after work one day, and had the piercing done. The procedure itself was straight forward. It was the end of the day and I think the piercer was pretty tired and ready to go home - I was the last job for the day so he was happy and relaxed which calmed me a little bit. He rang me before I got there to make sure I was still coming in, and to check what kind of jewelry I wanted (so there was no backing out now!), and once I got in there we chatted for a little while about how it was my first piercing, what I should expect and how I had nothing to worry about. Surprisingly, I wasn't nervous.
The Procedure:
I barely felt the receiving tube, and the piercing itself was just a little prick – like getting a flu shot, but on your penis. I was pierced at 10 gauge, and had a circular barbell for jewelry, after which I was wrapped up and sent on my way with some after care instructions and things to watch out for ("Keep the balls tight"). (A quick note on the studio – It's a great place, very professional and knowledgeable, clean like a surgery but welcoming like a living room. It's got a great relaxed vibe, plenty of jewelry to choose from and a 'no bullshit' attitude that I found reassuring.)
The Aftercare:
The aftercare was easy. Warm salt soaks twice a day for a few weeks, and after a small bloodbath night one, there was not a drop of blood twenty-four hours after the piercing. I bought a box of rubber gloves and some tissues. After each morning shower I'd wrap myself up in tissues, put an elastic band around it, then cover it with a rubber glove and put an elastic band around it to hold it on. Going to the toilet became a five minute operation but I was pretty fanatical about keeping the area clean and safe.
It was about a three weeks before I masturbated with it (can't believe I held out for that long) - and that felt amazing. It was a couple of months before I tried it out with a partner. After the initial shock I've found that most girls tended to enjoy playing with it, however due to the relatively small size of my ring only a few felt it while together. This made me want to upsize however I was always a bit wary of rushing into things, and two years after the initial piercing I was still using the same jewelry that I received initially.
Peeing was a bit of an issue. I quickly learnt how to turn it upside down and cover the hole with one of the balls, but the pressure you can force through is significantly less, and the method I was employing requires two hands. So if you're out on a big drinking night it's a bit of a pain in the arse. There's also a bit more splashing than otherwise – so dark pants become your friend. Also, like it or not, you're going to pee in the shower. And if you've never really thought about which way you 'hang', you'll learn very quickly.
To losing it:
I had to have an operation and one of the rules of the operating theater is that piercings needed to be removed. So prior to the operation I removed my PA and put the ring in my drawer. Of course, when I left the hospital I left without it! Following the operation one of my arms was out of action for a couple of months so I had no compunction to buy new jewelry (and piss one handed), but after that time started to drift on and before I knew it, it had been six months since I'd had jewelry in the piercing.
After thinking about it for a month or so I decided that I wanted to keep the piercing, because I liked the way it looked, I liked playing with it when masturbating and I enjoyed the fantasy aspects of it. For me, these positives outweighed the negatives (peeing). I went back to the shop and explained my situation. There was still an occasional drip from the pierced hole when I took a piss, so I got one of the piercers to take a look at it. He said that it hadn't closed up completely, and he should be able to fit something in there.
He applied a taper (which I barely felt) and fit in new jewelry (this time at 12 gauge) which fit fairly snug. I was worried that I'd have to go through a similar after care situation like the initial piercing, but he said no – I just needed to take it easy and there wouldn't be any blood etc, which I'm happy to say there wasn't! He advised me that I could upsize in a few weeks if required, but he recommended that I wait about three months to ensure it's fully healed, which I will.
It felt great having the piercing back and I'm so happy that I decided to keep it.
To sum up, for me, I love this piercing. I love the way it feels and looks, and the reactions you get from partners you're with. It's been a very personal piercing for me – I've never told anybody about it (apart from people that have seen it of course) and really enjoy that it's become part of who I am. I'm looking forward to upsizing back to my initial size soon, and plan to go up to maybe a 6 gauge over the next couple of years.
If you're thinking about getting this done, I'd say do your research, find a good studio and be confident in your mind that this is what you want. The nuts and bolts of it (the piercing / after care) were a piece of piss, but the mental barrier was a bigger hurdle.
