About 11 years or so ago, I was looking heavily into body mods. I had never had a tattoo or a piercing and I felt that just getting my ear pierced wasn't enough. I thought seriously on getting my scrotum pierced but had problems finding literature at the time about it. As a matter of fact, finding literature about any of the male genital piercings was hard to find.

After reading a ton of websites on Prince Albert piercings, I decided that was the one I wanted first. After making my decision I began to research where I could get one done and how far away it would be to travel. Unfortunately, I had horrible luck in my endeavor. I couldn't find anything within the surrounding 4 states.

This was disappointing to me because I had really set my sights on getting a PA piercing. I experimented with urethra play earlier in my life and thought that a wand could be fun too. After several weeks of searching for a studio with no luck, I finally came to the conclusion that I had to do it myself.

It's been a long time now since I did it but I remember having to go to lots of sites detailing the male genitals medically to learn as much as I could about the area. I was a nursing student at the time so I also studied what was available to me in hardcover. I studied, measured, searched, and studied some more. I finally found a chat room where people had done these piercings or had them done by someone.

I asked as many questions as I could about the procedure and how to pierce the area. After about 2 days of chatting for several hours, I found out the placement of the piercing so I didn't leave long lasting damage.

The next step now that I had the knowledge was to choose the tool to pierce with. Back then medical supplies where hard to find online. I finally had to go with a scalpel (an Exacto knife that I sterilized).

Finally I had to find jewelry that would work. Again I spent a lot of time online before I found a place that had larger CBR (Captive Bead Ring) jewelry. I purchased one 10 gage, 1/2 inch diameter CBR and in 2 weeks it arrived at the house. It was as basic as it could get. Just a simple stainless steel CBR with a stainless bead. Nothing fancy but it would work.

The day I decided to do the piercing was like any other day. I set up a coffee table and thoroughly cleaned it and then used bleach on the surfaces that would be near where I was working. I spent a good hour cleaning that table. Then I gathered the items I would need and sterilized them by first boiling, then soaking them in bleach for an hour. Once that was done, I re-wiped the coffee table with bleach and then rinsed all the materials I was going to use in a milder bleach/water solution and set them on the upper part of the table. I gathered some gauze I purchased, some bleach to swab the area clean, and anything else I might need and also put them on the upper part of the table.

Once all set up, I looked at the area and that's when I began to get a little nervous. Running through my mind was the fact that I had never done this before so I didn't know exactly what I was in for. All I had was a setup and a lot of determination. Before doing anything else, I got the telephone so I could call 911 if I really messed it up.

I lowered my pants and underwear and sat on the lower part of the coffee table. To my left where all the instruments and supplies I would need to accomplish this. I grabbed a piece of medical grade tubing that I got from the hardware store and inserted it into my urethra. I figured that the knife would go through the front side of the tube and I would be able to stop pushing before I penetrated both sides. The knife had the extremely pointy blade in it so I knew I had to go slow which was fine for me because I was a bit nervous.

I placed the knife on the spot I had intended the jewelry to go through and slowly began to push. As I did, I felt a slight crunching feeling as the knife went through the tissue. As I pushed harder I began to feel a sharp spot on my urethra, then I felt it penetrate the urethra with sort of a pop. I knew it was through the urethra because if I moved the tubing I had inside I could feel the blade move.

I pushed a little more to get the blade to open the urethra enough for me to insert the jewelry. I still hadn't seen any blood so I figured this was going to be easy. I had heard there was bleeding involved but not yet for me. Once I believed the cut was wide enough I pulled out the knife. That was when it bled.

I almost panicked as I grabbed the sterile gauze and put it over the cut and squeezed. Then I said to myself, "Of course it's gonna bleed stupid, you just cut yourself!" I kept the bandage on and gripped tightly for about 5 minutes, then I removed the gauze to make sure the bleeding had stopped. I thought that I would never get the jewelry in because I had held the wound too long in the gauze under pressure.

I figured that I would try once to put the jewelry in and if it didn't go, I would give up and call myself lucky. I was surprised however to find that the jewelry went right through without any complication and with very little blood. I put the bead in the jewelry, washed the area again with the bleach and water solution to clean any remaining blood, then I bandaged it.

It ached the first night and bled some but nothing like what I had heard. After the 3rd night, it had stopped hurting almost completely. Going to the bathroom wasn't ever painful and I soaked it twice daily in saltwater to keep it clean. After 2 weeks, I didn't even notice it and had sex with it. I thoroughly washed it afterwards but even having sex didn't hurt and no blood either.

Once a month went by, I began to search for larger jewelry. I went slowly by gage, stretching it each time. I went from 10 gage to 8 gage and left that in for a few months, then stretched it to 6 gage. It has been 6 gage up too 5 months ago when I stretched it to 4 gage, then 2 gage.

I enjoy the look and the feel of the jewelry a great deal. My wife doesn't have a problem with it either. Looking back on the whole procedure I think I did well, but I absolutely caution anyone who wants one of these piercings.

I whole heartedly recommend that anyone who wants a PA piercing to go to a studio instead of doing it themselves. Make sure that the studio you chose has an experienced piercer for this piercing. I count myself as being lucky, and for the fact that I did a great deal of studying on the subject before doing it. I was also a nursing student trained in sterile procedures. The risk of infection can be great if you do this wrong.

As for me, I would do it again. I wish I had all the info then that is available now. It would have made my decision easier and also the task.

As for nursing school, I never did become a nurse, but I have had my PA since.
