I had been wanting to get a Prince Albert all summer. When I first started thinking about it I kind of joked around about it with my boyfriend. He said "no" almost immediately. "I don't think you know what you're getting yourself into." He answered. "Well I bet you would like it once it's done." That was the end of that conversation. I would bring it up once every few weeks to see if the idea had eased into his mind at all. It hadn't. I figured I would just do it anyway. It's my body, right? Still, gathering the courage proved to be another task.

One night when I went out with one of my girlfriends, she told me that she got a genital piercing recently. Although I realize that female genital piercings and male genital piercings are completely different she was the first person I had a pleasant conversation with about genital piercings. She encouraged me to do what I wanted to do, and offered to be there for me during the procedure. What a pal!

With this newfound confidence I started researching PA's online. I found this website, along with a few others that proved to be very helpful. After a great deal of research I decided that I was mentally prepared for the procedure. Knowing what to expect makes the whole thing a lot easier!

After I sold all of my textbooks I had raised enough extra cash to get the procedure done. By this point I had caught my boyfriend in a lie. As a consequence to his lie and as a condition for my forgiveness I told him that he HAD to allow me to get this procedure done. He agreed and admitted that he thought it would be hot. Finally the last weekend before the fall semester came and I knew that if I didn't do it then, I would probably not get around to doing it at all. It was go time!

By the time we arrived at True Blue, a parlor that had come highly recommended, I was starting to feel anxious. I ended up going with my boyfriend and a good friend. I didn't want to chicken out, because I knew that was exactly what my boyfriend was expecting. So, I spoke with the piercer, Ellie. She gave me the necessary paperwork and told me she would prepare the room. This is when reality set in. I was really doing this. I could literally feel my heart speed up and the endorphin rush was almost overwhelming.

Now let me take a minute to preach about the importance of doing this with some food in your stomach. Ellie had asked if I had eaten within the last four hours. And I had. A single plate of nachos in all day. Eat well, heed my warning, you'll see why soon.

Finally I went in for the piercing. Ellie had me pull my pants down to my knees and lie on a bed-like piece of furniture. The room was a lot like my doctors office, a sharp contrast from the funky neon ambiance of the lobby. My boyfriend came in with me and sat in a corner. At this point I was so nervous and endorphins were filling my veins I felt almost like I was high. My boyfriend got really nervous, and Ellie almost kicked him out of the room. He feigned a cool calmness. Is that a word? Let's just pretend it is. :)

Ellie talked me through the procedure, although I already knew what to expect from the extensive reading I did on this site. I think that the rush of endorphins acted as a painkiller, because there was relatively no pain. Or it may have been because I was so light headed from my lack of nourishment that I didn't notice the pain. Whatever the case, when she stuck the receiving tube in, it stung, but barely. She left it in there while she prepared the piercing tool. I didn't look at it, but according to my boyfriend it was scary looking. She had me cross my arms over my shoulders and told me to take some deep breaths. A quick sharp pain followed that wasn't unlike getting a shot or having your blood drawn...only...down there. When she slipped in the 10 gage ring it only stung. She cleaned up and wrapped my penis in gauze, placed a rubber glove over it and secured it in place with a rubber band.

When I stood up off the table I felt a rush. I was excited that it was over. I followed her out of the room and she began to discuss the after care. This is where it gets funny. I started to realize that my anxiety was getting out of control. But I didn't want to show it. So I tried to play it off. As she's explaining the after care she stops, looks me in the eye and says "Are you ok? You're looking really pale." Trying to keep my cool I smile and say, "Yeah, I'm fine!" The next thing I know my backs on the floor and Ellie is holding my ankles in her hands!!! "It always happens like this. They always say they are alright and then they just pass out like this. He'll be ok; we just need to let the blood flow back into his brain." As I hear this I come to and see Ellie, My boyfriend and my friend gathered around me. How embarrassing!! According to my boyfriend I still had that fake smile on my face while I was passed out! So I totally should have eaten well before going, and I knew this, but I didn't. So EAT WELL! The pain was minimal, but the embarrassment will last a lifetime! haha.

So, she finished going over the after care, but I only pretended to understand her, still woozy from my trip to lala-land. Luckily she gave me a handy after care brochure that I follow like my bible.

I just submerge the penis into a sea salt and water solution twice daily. 1/8th teaspoon sea salt to 8 oz warm water. When I wash (everyday of course...that's just good hygiene!) I mix dial antibacterial with equal portion water in my hands and lather in my hands first, then gently wash the piercing. Then make sure to pee afterwards to clear out any soap residue which can irritate the piercing.

The first pee, as I had heard can be very painful, was not really. I've had worse after drinking too much soda.

I bled a great deal the first night. I bled through the gauze and woke in soaked boxers. After that I bought a pack of boxer briefs to wear underneath my boxers to help keep blood from getting on my work uniform (khakis), plus the support really helps keep the ring from moving around, which can lead to more bleeding.

It has been like three days. I'm very pleased with my piercing and glad I got it done! I can't wait to put it to some good use!

I highly recommend Ellie! She was awesome. If you're from Austin, you've already heard great things about True Blue, but rest assured they are true. Especially Ellie! Love her!
