A few years ago I used a fake i.d. to get a prince albert piercing in a tattoo parlor. I liked it, it was invigorating and it turned my then current girlfriend on. However, that relationship ended and the summer began. The next person I was involved with didn't like the piercing and the large hoop didn't really agree with my lifeguarding shorts so I took it out after about two months. I was relatively young, so the wound healed rather quickly. People that know me now don't believe that I actually got a piercing, especially there.

I have had my ears pierced in a couple places and then taken out. I got one tattoo, but I have always regretted taking out the prince albert.
I started pricing some of the areas around here, and they charge absolutely too much for a genital piercing, and several of the artists have never even done one before. So I decided to do the job myself. I have a high tolerance level for pain. I began to research what types of jewelry I needed and the proper sizes.
I purchased an 8 gauge one inch captive bead ring, a set of 8 gauge needles, and a 6 gauge round barbell that I am planning on stretching into the piercing.
I currently work as a nurse, so I am familiar with sterile technique. I was able to ge some chlorahexapine wipes, sterile gloves, litocaine gel, and betadine from work.
I am about to describe how I went about creating the prince albert piercing. I don't know if I had the best technique, but I tried to make it as sterile and clean as possible.
1. I opened the sterile gloves and used those as my sterile field.
2. I cleaned the captive bead ring with the chlorahexapine wipes to sterilize.
3. I opened the sterile needles and placed them on the sterile field.
4. I cleaned my glans and my urethral meatus with the wipes, and betadine.
5. I used a sharpy to mark the area under my glans where I wanted to needle to come out.
6. I then took a qtip and some litocaine gel and attempted to numb my urethra and the tip of my glans.
7. I put on the sterile gloves and griped my semi erect penis with my left hand and took a needle with the right.
8. I pushed the needle through until I saw that it extending the area which I had marked.
9. Then I pushed through the skin and created the piercing. I may have needed to use more litocaine or more ice, but It was more painful than what I remembered, but maybe it was just because this time I was highly anxious and nervous.
10. I left the needle partially between my urethra and the opening in the underside of my glans.
11. I clumsily attempted to push the needle through and set the ring, which really requires one had to stabilize and two to work, so a friend may be helpful. However, I got it set and it was over with rather quickly.
I then made sure that I could move the ring up and down, and I cleaned it with some of the betadine.
It bled a little through the night and my first pair of boxers were pretty well stained. However, through the next couple days it tapered off, unless it got pulled by running or a snag in my shorts. It has been in for about three days such far.
I did get some swelling the first night and into the first morning. I don't remember this happening with the first piercing, but I took some tylenol and it helped relieve the pain and the swelling. I am looking forward to the piercing settling in so that I can enjoy more of the pleasure than the pain, but you have to suffer for good things.
I have been cleaning the ring with the clear Johnson and Johnson betadine rinse, which I thought worked really well when I had my ear piercings. I recommend the anyone who is considering performing a self piercing do as much research as possible and be as clean as possible. Sterile gloves and supplies can be found at a medical supply store. Piercers are usually willing to give out advice on what supplies you will need for the specific instance, and many of the ones I talked to were very well trained in sterile technique.
I have worked in the emergency rooms and I have seen infections that were not properly cared for spread into the whole body. So if you think that any of your piercings are looking infected, please have them looked at immediately. This can prevent cysts, keloids, and amputations. Even if a piercing is really old and well set the jewelry should be changed out, and the site should be cleaned with betadine every now and again.
