About 10 years ago I was repulsed by the idea of piercing your body, but somehow this gradually changed 180 degrees over a couple of years. Was it because of the navel piercing hype in the late 90's or was it because the coming of the Internet? I don't know, somehow I got slowly attracted to it and I admired the people wearing piercings in public for their courage and style. I started fantasizing how it would feel to have jewelry attached to your body. This started with common piercings, but with time I became more and more interested with more rare one's like genital piercings.

Problem was that my family does not allow bodypiercing in any way and I used to swim a lot so healing would be difficult. No I have left my home, I have a job that absolutely does not allow any type of jewelry, except a simple wedding ring. This meant that if I ever wanted to try out a piercing, it had to be a hidden one. Options were a septum retainer or a genital piercing. I rejected the septum because of the long healing time, so I decided to go for a Prince Albert, of which I have read great experiences.

After searching on the Internet I found a nice shop in the center of Amsterdam: dare2wear. Packing up my courage I decided to give it a try and visit the store and ask for a PA.

Inside, I was greeted by a friendly young woman (sadly I forgot her name) who explained me all about genital piercings.

The shop is a bit small, but looks very clean. The piercing is done in the same room as the shop, but behind a thick curtain to create a private place.

She put the guiche under my attention, showed me where it would be placed and how most customers loved it. Nearly I was convinced to take a guiche, but then I realized I had to ride home on my bike, which would be quite a painful experience.

A PA it was, and while laying down on the table half naked I began thinking of how this would be the most painful experience in my life... Then I remembered I had kidney toes a couple years back. Peeing then had the feeling of getting stabbed with a hundred small needles. I was assured that a PA is nothing compared to what I had endured then, which really put me at ease. After marking and cleaning the top of my penis it was time to insert the receiving tube. I was told to lay with my head down and relax because I probably didn't want to see it... The insertion was quite painful and had to be done a second time before it was placed correctly. It felt like my urethra was burning and stretched beyond proportions, it was certainly the worst part of the whole experience. The piercing itself was done when letting out a good breath. It was not really painful, more like the feeling when you donate blood. The needle was immediately replaced by a one of a larger gauge because inserting jewelry larger that the piercing needle would help to stop the bleeding. This was when I looked at my genitals again and I was a bit shocked by seeing the huge needle sticking through my dick. Insertion of the 12G CBR was smooth and not really noticeable. During the whole procedure I was asked if I still was ok, if it still was bearable and I was instructed about every step she took. I really appreciated this concern, and luckily it was far less painful than I expected. Then again, I didn't felt the often described "after piercing rush" either.

The piercer told me to take it easy for a while while we discussed the aftercare and cleaned off the little blood coming out. She told me that I took it surprisingly well, that she had once pierced fully tattood men who were crying of the pain.

Before putting my pants back on I wrapped my penis in tissue to prevent blood stains on my clothes. I thanked her, paid 60 euro and took my bicycle for the 1 hour ride home.

Before taking a shower I always drink half a liter of water so I can pee after to clean the urethra. The first cleaning in the shower was a bit dramatic. After cleaning my hands, the penis and my ring I turned it a bit which cause a stream of blood coming out. It was quite shocking, but luckily I managed to stop it quickly. The first time peeing was quite an experience. The urine squirted in every direction so it looks like am forced to pee sitting from now on.

As aftercare I drink a lot, take 2 showers a day and clean the wound with a sea salt soak twice a day.

I still wrap my penis up in tissues when I leave, because the wound still bleeds from time to time, although it is getting lesser and lesser. When I am at home I retract my foreskin so the wound stays clean, and most important: Don't touch the ring, how seductive it might be! Also don't have sex for 6 weeks, to allow the wound to heal fast.

Concluding I have to admit that my research about this piercing was insufficient, because it was later I discovered the hole is permanent.

About recommending, I think it is a bit early to do that. Apart from the bleeding I have had no trouble, no pain even with an erection.

When it is further healed, 3 weeks after piercing, I will replace the CBR with a barbell, which I think will be more comfortable then I pull my foreskin back over the glans.

I am sure you have heard this all before, but don't let the fear of pain and the unknown hold you back. Do your research and go for it!
