I had my first piercing, a simple lobe stud at the age of 5 and I didn't get and other form of modding until I was 18 when I had my first and only intended tattoo. But from that first tattoo an obsession grew and I started to get more ink and as my artist was also a piercer I became immersed in the 'scene' and so started to get pierced too. After a year or two in this situation I started to toy with the idea of having a PA but my partner at the time strongly vetoed that that.

I made the decision to get it sorted on my next pay-day but at her suggestion that there was enough funds in the bank to get it sorted ASAP I found myself the very next morning driving to the studio to get pierced.
The adrenaline had well and truly kicked in and my blood was racing through me as we approached the studio only to be told that Shaun the piercer was on lunch!! Claire his assistant/receptionist was sympathetic to my cause and told me when he was back and took down what I wanted pierced. Bit of a let-down but I was booked in as the first appointment after lunch which gave me 20 minutes for a quick smoke to calm my nerves and generally settle myself down..
Shaun came back and I was there waiting, again the adrenaline started to pump and I was building myself up. I already had surface piercings up my neck, my tongue and a few ear piercings but this was a bit more of a touchy subject as this was my boy, my best friend, my pride and joy and I was going to let some guy push a piece of steel through him!!
I went through to the piercing room and Shaun was straight to work trying to settle me down as he got all his kit together ready to pierce. He talked me through the procedure but I just lay there babbling and talking crap just trying to put off the moment of truth. Shaun told me he had backed out of his 3 times and at that point I knew if I didn't get it done there and then I would never get it done and I had waited 8 years for this moment so I pulled down my shorts and told him to get on with it!
The numbing liquid was applied and I was warned it may get a little warm in my experience 'warm' was a little bit inaccurate as it reached warm and passed it quite quickly to reach the stage 'shit that's hot, get it off me now'!! At my request and obvious discomfort Shaun went to work, telling me to stay relaxed and to keep breathing. Within seconds the piercing was over and I realised that Id built it up in my head a lot more than the actual piercing was. There wasn't any pain at all and I must stress that point - it was more of a pressure than anything and although not exactly a pleasant pressure that's all it was.
Seconds later the ring was through and the closure in place and just a small amount of bleeding to tackle. From start to finish the whole procedure probably lasted less than 60 seconds and the 8 year wait was over. The weirdest part was getting used to the sensation of there being something there where there never normally was anything at all.
I left Metal Bodies feeling exhilarated and pleased that I went through with it and the whole thing was made easier by the professional manner of Shaun and the way in which the piercing was carried out.
The funniest part of my experience came when I stood up out of my wheelchair to put it in the car and the lump of tissue paper that had been left wrapped around my new piercing to absorb any blood fell out of the leg of my shorts and onto the floor just as several old ladies were walking past!! Somehow that was more embarrassing than having a friend of the same sex handling my trouser-bits!! They all simultaneously looked down at the bloody tissue, up to my face and then back to the tissue again with some very puzzled looks on their faces!!
There was some bleeding over the next day or so but nothing excessive and the first few times I needed the toilet after I carried out sitting down!! Aiming takes a little getting used to after this piercing but that's the only negative that came from my entire experience.
I lasted only 4 days to try out anything sexual and this came with mixed results but two days later and everything was fine and in working order. Some sites and people recommend a lot longer for a healing period but my advice is when you try it - take is slowly and make sure things are well lubricated. Thanks Shaun - from me and my girlfriend!!
