My PA Piercing:
At A Glance Author Scott Contact Scott@bme.anon When N/A Artist Ray Studio Exotic Ink Location Conyers, GA Last March I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. I had one choice, remove my right nut or die. Really; not a hard choice at 39. I underwent the surgery and follow up treatment (radiation and chemo). On August 07th I had my follow up and no signs of any cancer or cells. I was good to go and will only require follow ups.
Now, I am not the kind of person you would even think about having a piercing. Not that I am trying to stereotype although that is what it sounds like. I am the clean cut all American boy next door who has a professional job. What made me think about it was, a pity party. I really had a self image issue. I did not like to look in the mirror and would not let anyone see me nude. Now that was a change as prior to cancer I have never had issues with nudity. So I started doing my homework. I read the pro and con and I thought to myself, why not do something that will draw attention to jewelry and not the unbalanced nut sack!
I knew of a really good body piercing shop in our mid size town and after two days got up the nerve to go in. I had seen his work on the internet and thought I would continue the research. I met with Ray from Exotic Ink in Conyers, GA. He was down to earth and really gave a shit to what I wanted to do. He spent about an hour talking to me, and showed me only work he had done on himself; that impressed me. I have not talked to hardly anyone about my cancer let alone my feelings regarding my "self image" issues. I told Ray flat out and he made it easy by telling me the multitude of options I had. Additionally he wanted to make sure I knew that this could not be an impulse action. He suggested I think about it and call him when I was ready. He offered to stay late or come in early so no one would be in the shop. I think he knew I was a little embarrassed.
So I took a deep and I mean deep breath and went back on 8/10 to go full steam ahead. Ray moved me to the back quickly and then talked to me some more. I really wanted to do something to try to make light of the missing nut. Ray said lets do the PA to dress you up and then I want to put in a steel ball on the right scrotum. Ray said, now you can tell them you replaced it with metal! Exactly!!!
Now here we go.... After getting everything together, Ray said okay man you just got to let me at it. So I took another deep breath and drop my pants and shorts and laid back. Everything you read tells you that the receiving tube is the worse part. For me it was not that bad at all. Pressure that is it. Then you know it is coming; take a deep breath and bam, a sharp sting and that is it. The entire thing is done and over in less than 10 seconds I swear! Ray said now you got it. Immediately I loved it! For the first time in 6 months I could look at my dick and not my missing nut. Next was time for the steel ball. It was a ring much like my PA but a little larger ball.
Here we go....Deep breath and bang it was done. A little more painful than the PA, only because Ray hit scar tissue from the surgery and all the other crap that was done down south. Again, over and done with in about 10 seconds.
It has been almost 24 hours and I don't regret it. I am more upset I built it up to be more than it was. Now I did not bleed one drop and others do. I just lucked out I guess. Had a little spot during the night that is it. It never hurt to pee like you read; at least for me and no discomfort at all; again at least for me.
One of the big advantages I think is getting someone that knows what in the hell they are doing! Two, talk with the person you pick and get comfortable with them. God knows I am not suggesting that you mentally stress over it like I did, I just have different motivating factors, but it helps if you can kind of connect with the person you are going to let put a needle in your dick. Lastly make sure you understand your options. Let the person you pick to do your piercing suggested your jewelry, size etc. Lastly, just take the step if it is what you really want and you understand the consequences.
I called Ray this morning to let him know all was well down south and he just reminded me to keep it clean. If you are within driving distance go see Ray at Exotic Ink in Conyers, you and your precious equipment will be grateful. Special Note to other testicular cancer survivors, at the very least get the scrotum piercing it is absolutely going to be so cool to say, I replaced my nut with steel! Great way to break the ice!!!!!
