I had always toyed with the idea of a penile piercing. Part of my reluctance, was not actually knowing anybody who had one. I mentioned my interest to my tattoo artist while I was getting my armband done. He told me he had one. He spent a great deal of time explaining what it was like to get, and have one. He explained the procedure in detail. He didn't offer to show it to me, and I certainly didn't ask to see it!

I spent several weeks looking up, on the Internet, all that I could find about PAs. I really had to have one!

I went back to see my artist, and told him I was ready for the PA. For some odd reason, he seemed more nervous about it than I did. I asked him how many he had done in the past, and he said he had done a lot of them. He even showed me pictures of the PAs he had done. He helped me pick out jewelry (a 14ga CBR in stainless steel) and we made an appointment for the procedure.

On the day that I was to have the procedure, I showed up on time, but very scared! It isn't everyday that a guy holds my willy, much less so he can stick a needle into it! Needless to say, my little buddy was smaller than usual, and I began to worry that he would really think it was tiny when the time came for me to drop trow! What a strange thing to be worrying about the size of my winky, at a time like that! However, the procedure had to be cancelled, because he said that the receiving tube that he had ordered for the procedure, had not come in that day's shipment. Again he acted pretty strange, and I had the distinct feeling that he was putting me off for some reason.

I made a new appointment for a week later. On that day, it was the final straw. He said that the tube was the wrong size. I asked for the ring that I had bought, and left the studio. I am a physician, and he knew that. My theory is that he felt worried about doing this to a doctor. I mentioned this to him, and he denied it. Nevertheless, all of these delays were getting me nowhere! I wanted that PA!

At that time (2 years ago) there were no other studios in our area that did genital piercings. I was not sure how to proceed. After giving it a great deal of thought, I decided to do it myself. A year or so earlier, a buddy and I had pierced my nipples. This had gone very well, and they had healed perfectly. However, neither he, nor I, was much hip with the idea of him touching Mr. Happy! So we worked it like this:

I had use of a professional autoclave, which I used to sterilize the ring. I then went into my room, and told him if I didn't come out in 10 minutes, to come looking for me because it was possible that I had passed out! I cleaned the area well with Betadine, and then used a 14ga IV cannula to do the piercing. I pulled the needle back out of the cannula a bit (to avoid poking before I wanted to) and inserted the cannula into my urethra. I then pushed with the cannula until I could see the skin "tenting" up at the place where I wanted the needle to exit. I then took a deep breath, and pushed the needle firmly back into the cannula, and on through the skin. There was a bit of a bite, but not nearly so much as I expected. I then removed the needle (leaving the cannula) and admired my handiwork! The placement was perfect! I placed the ring (minus the bead) into the end of the cannula, and worked it back through the fresh hole. Replaced the bead, and I had a PA!

There was blood all over my legs!! I cleaned it up, and wrapped my penis up with several layers of gauze. At about that point, my friend came in to see if I was OK. I said I was a bit woozy, and he laughed saying my face was gray and sweaty. He then kind of talked about other things for a few minutes then blurted out: "Dude, don't take this the wrong way, but you gotta show it to me!" Naturally, I did, and he was very impressed.

The PA healed very quickly. It hurt like hell the first few times I pissed, but no problems otherwise. I eventually stretched it to a 12ga, then a 10, then an 8, and just recently to a 6ga. My preferred jewelry is now a circular barbell.

That is my story. While I do not recommend that everybody do a PA for himself, I do suggest that anybody with an interest in a PA should study it, and seriously consider it. It is a great piercing. I love it!
