When Two years ago
Over two years ago I went off to get a Prince Albert piercing done. I rarely see stories on BME that are more than a few weeks old so I thought I would report on what my piercing has done in the last few years. This may or may not be what others experience.

To set the stage I went and got stabbed and no it did not hurt that much. Really like a big pinch. About six weeks later I was all nicely healed. I used Castile soap 3 times a day and that is it. No salt water or any of that. From what I hear that is pretty normal as Prince Albert piercings heal real easy.

I originally got the piercing done at 14 gauge. It did not stay that way for long, as I wanted it to be at least 10 gauge. After stretching to 10g using tapers I found that the piercing did not want to stay at that size and to avoid leakage I had to keep increasing the jewelry size. It finally settled down at 4g. Yes it pretty thick, but the wife doesn't mind so all is well. It looks cool though.

That brings to a good point about this piercing, mine seemed to do what it wanted after 10g. I don't know if that is normal. I did get drips and they came from to small a ring gauge. I still do but not from too small a jewelry size but from the bead. Properly positioned near the urethra (top not bottom so to speak) there is nothing to be concerned about. The urine just flows over the bead and forms a nice stream. In other words I don't have to sit like some have said. If I don't pay attention I can make a mess so I try to always pay attention.

About my wife, she was not too keen on the idea originally but likes it now. She says it does increase her pleasure so that a good thing. She also reports that after a while it can irritate her a bit so that's not so good. She says it doesn't happen often so it is not a big issues but it does happen.

For me it does nothing really, other than look nice. Did I mention that? I find that I get no sensation from it anymore, unless it is tugged or pulled or some such. At that I don't really feel anything more than if you pulled on my finger, except it's not my finger, and there isn't much I can do but follow if you understand what I am getting at. Try it some time. It is a very odd feeling...

I have found the piercing to be very tough. It can stand up to some very vigorous "use" without any issues at all. My wife can be very rough with it and I never get any bleeding anymore, the most that happens is a little tenderness if it is really pulled. Don't let the thought of tearing stop you, just make certain to have a larger size to avoid "cheese cutter" damage. Tearing was an issue at the smaller sizes but is now a thing of the past really.

Changing jewelry with a 4 gauge ring is impossible to do without a ring opener and if you get one get a large pair as you have to white knuckle the smaller sets to put the bead in and out. Needless to say just don't change jewelry if you go to a large size. A Prince Albert is a functional not aesthetic piercing in my opinion anyways so who cares.

Care is almost nothing. I clean the ring daily and make certain to scrub the gunk out from around the bead. I do not use soap in the piercing itself at all anymore. From what I read now I shouldn't have then either but oh well. That is the past now. I just clean around the area like anyone should.

All in all I like my piercing very much and like to use it a much as I can. I found it to be a breeze from start to now and have had no issues with it at all. I recommend anyone that wants one to get one. It didn't hurt, much, and healed very quickly so there is nothing to stop any one who wants it. Other than being a girl, that is. Just don't be a dummy and rush into it. Take your time. There is no need to be in a hurry. Find a good shop and talk to them. If they seem seedy then split, there are plenty of good folks who will take care of you and not creep you out. That's all I can say. If you want it do it and chose a good shop. After two years mine is still doing well.
