I am a 34 year old white male. I currently have four piercings, ear lobes(2),labret, and now a PA! I also have 16-18 tattoos, depending on weather you group them together or not. My interest in a PA came about as a curiosity after hearing accounts on the increase in sexual pleasure. Plus being the natural perv that I am , my thought was it would give a reason to expose myself upon any future requests to "see it". I love piercings and tattoos and it's always amazed me that although there is an increase in people that modify themselves in some way I still feel I am in the general minority in that regard anytime I take a look around in public places. People always seem to brighten up with anticipation when they learn that someone in their midst has a genital piercing and they just have to see it.
I have done three labrets, two tragus, two lobes, and now a PA. So I am not exactly unfamiliar with the mechanics of piercing. I also have been tattooing for a couple years in a modified apprenticeship. By that I mean I am not working in a shop but under close supervision of an experienced tattooist and never tattoo anything I feel is outside my experience level. At the same time I try to push the envelope a little each time. This is the same reason I wanted to do something another step up as far as piercing goes. I did a lot of research and decided to do it myself. I would have liked to do it at 10 gauge but have read about other experiences being done at 14 gauge. Being that I already had everything I needed to go ahead at 14, I wanted to move forward with the piercing.
In my research I noted that I would need a receiving tube, although I have read about it being done freehand from the inside-out. I located a nylon tube about 6 gauge in size and a little tube of KY to aid in insertion. I also got some topical analgesic to numb the urethra prior to inserting the receiving tube.
I started by inserting the cotton tip applicator coated in topical. This is not an easy task. I progressed slowly as it takes 10-15 seconds to numb the area and pushed deeper as it numbed. After that I inserted the tube with KY and pressed it against the underside of my penis, feeling for the outline of the tube. This seemed to be difficult to maneuver due to the KY and being cumbersome in general. The tube kept slipping out and I couldn't hold it in one spot long enough to receive the needle. I think this was difficult more so because I was doing to myself. Needless to say I abandoned the tube and decided to go freehanded from the inside-out.
Once I got the needle inside I slowly positioned it to exit and wasn't all that positive I was going to go through with it. These beveled needles are very sharp and it didn't take much pushing to start through. I immediately felt it to cut through the inside of my urethra. With steady pressure and some slight wiggling, I started to see the tip come through in a perfect position, I was happy to see it was going to be good placement. At this point I started to break a sweat but not due to pain but probably endorphins. Finally I had done it and there was a needle sticking out of my cock.
I thought now all I have to do is get the jewelry in. I wasn't able to make a smooth transition of it. I placed the ring inside so that the opening was positioned right next to the hole now occupied by the needle and decided to pull it out and make quick with the insertion. I was surprised by the blood even though I had read there can quite a bit. This made it difficult to see where I need to go with the ring but I assumed it was close to where all the blood was coming from. And as luck would have it the ring popped right through and the bleeding stopped. I was stoked, I had done it!! I wiped it off, placed some bacitracin on it and spun it to coat. After that I wrapped it up with some gauze and put a condom on in case of any bleeding.
I went out to dinner without any major pain and finally had to pee when I got home. All prior research was true to form. It hurt 5 times worse than the actual piercing. I should say the piercing didn't really hurt but there was some definite pain and discomfort in urinating. It is the next day and it still hurts to pee but is getting easier with each time. I have also done salt soaks the night I pierced it and this morning.
All is well and I anticipate a speedy recovery. I will keep an eye on migration and continue to do salt soaks. I would definately have it done by a reputable piercer if I had it to do over again, but am glad it went as well as it has. It's just too awkward to do by yourself in retrospect. Might as well leave it in the hands of a professional, literally. I will add that prior to this I showered and everything was cleaned and sterilized. Anyways I plan to go to a 12 then a 10 definitely. I hope this adds some insight for anyone thinking about doing their own PA. All the experiences that I had read were a great help in my preparation.
