Well, this all starts back in 1997 when I was running a small tattoo and piercing shop in Russellville, Alabama. Yes, Russellville, Alabama...population 2100...well, 5500 if you include the illegal immigrants that worked at the local chicken plant. Anyway, one night I was sitting in the shop, no customers were there and I considered doing a Prince Albert on myself. Now, I was doing piercing thanks to the Huck Spalding video tape...yeah, I know...stop cringing. I've become more educated since then. I never had a piercing go wrong. I attribute that to my formal training as an Emergency Medical Technician and my knowledge of anatomy. Getting back to the subject...I was sitting there, looking at my penis and thinking to myself, "Self, a PA piercing would be pretty cool, but do you really want to do it to yourself?" Fortunately, I answered to myself, "Will, you really don't' want to stick a needle in your own penis. You're here all alone and what if something goes wrong? After all, you've only done a few of these on other people and sticking a piece of steel in yourself is another story." So, I waited until about 6 months ago.
At A Glance Author Will Contact Will@bme.anon When Six months ago Artist Brian Studio Piercing Experience Location Atlanta, GA I moved to Atlanta in 1999 and made friends in the Pagan community. When I would ask about piercing, one name was mentioned, Brian at Piercing Experience. A friend of mine, Jack, had his Prince Albert done there and sung Brian's praises to no end. I started doing my research. Ends up that Brian had started piercing himself, and to cut a long story short, dropped out of college and opened Piercing Experience near Little Five Points in Atlanta in 1992 if memory serves. I can only imaging how many people he's poked over the years. The thing I liked about Brian and his staff (employees, not penis) was the professionalism. When you walk into Piercing Experience, it's like walking into an art studio. I would have gotten the PA done sooner, but since I work in the technology sector, and the layoffs started just when I was ready to head down to his shop and have him ram a piece of steel in my penis, I had to put it off indefinitely. Oh well. Such is the way of life someti mes.
Early in 2003, I met a girl at a Science Fiction Convention in Atlanta. Her name is Cindy B. She's a hottie. Yes, this is relevant. She and I ended up having a little "fun" at this convention, after she escorted me back to my room when I was heavily intoxicated. First thing I noticed was her labia and nipple piercings. The next day, we met in the con-suite and started chatting about body modifications. We kept seeing one another for a while and I had told her at one point in time that I really wanted a Prince Albert. She said that it was her FAVORITE male piercing and she thought that every man should have one at birth instead of a circumcision. Since I was in college at this time finishing a degree program and funds were limited, she decided to get me the procedure as an early graduation present.
It was about 6 months ago or so. She, her boyfriend, my wife and I all hopped in the car and drove down to Piercing Experience to see Brian. I was excited to say the least, but I'm a mellow kind of guy and didn't let it show. (Yes, the wife and I have an open relationship...don't freak out...hey, wait a minute....anyone on this site would probably think that normal...anyway...) We walked in, Brian and the gang were their normal, wonderfully professional selves. Before I was pierced, I was given a crash course in their piercing techniques, which I have since then followed on other people that I do piercing for.
1. No clamps of any kind. They can never be really and truly clean and run the risk of causing more damage to the tissue.
2. Use only titanium jewelry for the piercing that has been rated for long term human implant. Reason being is that it is healthy for the body and drastically reduces the chance for migration or rejection.
The freehand method is definitely more comfortable than using clamps. Some people that use clamps just don't know how to use them properly, thus ending up in tissue damage, unnecessary pain, etc.
Anyway, I get into the room, Brian examines my penis, gets the right size of jewelry for me, which was a 7/8" 4 gauge barbell, polished titanium. My wife, Paula and Cindy were allowed in the room with me during the procedure. Brian dawned a mask, goggles, sterilized gloves. All this made me very comfortable. He then massaged the area where he was getting ready to pierce, went in through the Urethra, then pop. It was over. I had such a rush! I immediately asked him what it would take to do a Jacob's Ladder, Septum, etc! I still have yet to get back to him for more piercing work because I'm still looking for work since finishing my degree in Information Technology.
The healing time was incredible for me as well. 2 weeks and there was no pain in the piercing. The stimulation during sex is phenomenal even today. Occasionally, I take the PA out for a few days to let the hole shrink up a bit then replace the jewelry. Thinking about up gauging to a 2 or a 0 real soon.
Thanks for the great piercing experience Brian! Any of you who want to check his shop out, his site is www.piercing.org
Thanks for putting up with my story :)
