It's been 6 days since I got my PA done and I am proud as punch. It was my first piercing in a good long time and as you'll read and represents the beginning of a new phase of my life. A little history about me and body piercing.

I got poked by the piercing bug in college almost 12 years ago. It started with piercing my right nipple at the Gauntlet's New York location. The next summer, I was visiting friends in Los Angeles and had my left nipple pierced at the Gauntlet studio there. Although my nipple piercings were lots of fun, i was looking for something new.

Facial piercings were not as readily accepted back then as they are today and probably would not look right on me. Belly button piercings were out too. That only left one place for my next piercing - my penis.

The location decision being made, I had to decide on which piercing to get. I didn't want a decorative piercing, so dydoes, scrotal, and surface piercing were ruled out. That left only the Prince Albert or the Ampallang. I had heard horror stories about wayward, nigh uncontrollable urine flow horror stories from people, so . . . I decided on the Ampallang to my girlfriend-at-the-time's delight.

My ampallang and i had a great time with any woman kind enough to give us sex until 1995 when I opted to join the Army. I was going to be a paratrooper and figured that everything had to come out . . . until now.

I left the service this past December (what a great gift!) and was looking for a way to celebrate the happy occasion. I had been thinking for a while what I was going to do and decided to get back into piercing. My buddy, Mike, works at Acme Tattoo, so I asked him if he knew of a reputable piercer in town. He said that there was a piercer on staff at Acme and I should stop by and check things out.

After the new year, I stopped by Acme and talked with Christina about getting an ampallang done. She said that she didn't feel comfortable doing it, but the master piercer would be in on Saturday. I scheduled an appointment and waited.

A couple of days later, Christina called me to say that the master piercer didn't feel comfortable with doing an ampallang either. I said that I'd settle for a Prince Albert and that I would see them on Saturday.

I arrived at Acme on time, nervous as hell . . . It was the same "I-can't-believe-i'm-about-do-this" tension I used to experience before a parachute drop. Christina introduced me to Lyons, the master piercer. We talked for a while and I recounted my history with piercing to them. Lyons talked me through the procedure and scared me by saying that she was going to use a 10g needle and then stretch the hole to cut down on the bleeding.

Lyons had me lay back on the table and pull out my penis. While the ladies discussed what jewelry they had on hand to put in, I took the chance to look around. Acme is clean - nuff said. Lyons then informed me that she'd use a 12g needle and stretch to a 10g ring. Lyons discussed placement with Christina and sterilized the area.

The receiving tube went in, but hurt a bit - I wasn't ready. Three deep breaths later, the needle went in. It hurt a lot more than i remember my ampallang hurting . . . and then came the stretching.

I had stretched my nipples up to 10g, but they'd already healed when I supersized. This stretching hurt more than the piercing, but I had been doing my deep Buddah belly breathing, so I managed to cope.

Lyons got the ring in and closed up. We discussed aftercare and I was suprised to learn that anti-bacterial soaps/surgical scrubs had fallen out of favor. She also said she'd ask around to find out if someone would do the ampallang for me.

After care has been a breeze. Two salt water soaks daily, a cotton swab and saline in between, and lots of water . . . so i can pee a lot. Although I had to settle, I am happy with the piercing and cannot wait 'til it heals and can try it out. I have tried masturbating, but I couldn't enjoy it on account of not being able to really go for it. What little bleeding I had is finished and things are healing nicely.

I emailed Lyons to see if she had talked to anyone about the ampallang and she responded that she wants to do it, so i'll be posting about that experience soon.
