I can't believe I haven't written this experience sooner. After all, it's been like. . . . oh geeze. . . five years or so since I got my first piercing. I've often thought back on that day and, even though the piercing went poorly, it was quite an experience.
At A Glance Author TheFly Contact TheFly@bme.anon IAM TheFly When Five years ago Artist I forget Studio Somewhere in Alabama Location Alabama I first got the idea of getting a genital piercing when I saw a picture on BME. I think it was an ampalang. I thought the balls on the top would . . . ahem . . . loan to my partner's sexual pleasure. Eventually, I refined this idea to a frenum with a wrap-around barbell, with the balls on top. I dunno. Something about the "scarring" of the natural look of my penis bothered me. Anyhow, I met a woman online who was also interested in piercings and we struck up an odd relationship. Enough about that for now. *winks*
I flew down to spend the weekend with her. And the subject of my getting a frenum came up. She'd gotten a horizontal hood done recently and that excited me. So I thought it was only fair that I get my "bits" modded. I can't recall the name of the shop we went to. I was so nervous and she handled the money and the business parts anyhow. It was very cool to have this older woman paying to have my penis pierced.
The piercer took time to talk with us about what I wanted. Eventually, I decided that a frenum wouldn't really be enough. He recommended a Prince Albert and said that, as long as he was down there, he'd do a frenum as well, no charge. The piercer was an EMT, so silly me put my complete trust in him. I figured his additional medical experience would help. Little did I know that this would cause the PA to go awry. Cheating yourself of the full experience of a piercing isn't worth it.
My friend and I were escorted into the piercing room. I will say that it was extremely clean and the piercer appeared to take every medical precaution possible. Now, I'm like anyone. Even though I'm about to get a needle shoved through my penis, I'm not looking forward to the pain. When he offered to inject lanacane into my member to numb it, I happily took him up on the offer. This, in hindsight, was one of my mistakes. The injection "inflated" the penile tissue and when the piercings was done, the placement was terribly wrong. The other mistake was my not doing the research in jewelry options. Upon the piercer recommendation, I got both Prince Albert and frenum with 14ga 1/2inch rings, which the piercing linked up. OW! Simply thinking about it makes me cringe now. If only I had known. Take me advice on lesson one: read up on jewelry choices. At least for genital of soft-tissue piercings, 14ga is like a cheese cutter.
The piercings went really smoothly and he couldn't have been any more supportive and professional. Though I saw sitting there, with a strange person's hands on my goods, I felt completely at ease. Remember, I was a naive "kid" at this time. The receiving tube was a bit uncomfortable, but I sort of liked it. (This must be an indication of my future with sounding *winks*) I felt kind of cheated with the numbing, I must say. There was no pain and it went so quickly. I was excited, nonetheless. I won't bother with the details; it's like every other PA experience on here.
However, a week after the piercing, because of the pressure on the linked piercings and the small-gauge of the ring, I had to take the Prince Albert out. Not to mention that, after the swelling of the injection went down, it was only about a half-inch deep. It was a horrible placement. But I felt so bad taking it out. My "special friend" had paid for it. It was difficult to take it out on my own. Thanks goodness for my Leatherman.
The frenum healed perfectly though. It would prove to be a very "faithful" piercing.
I eventually had the Prince Albert repierced.
Part TWO:
If only I had known: My second genital piercing
Since I got my first piercing, and it went wrong, I did a bunch of research. Yet, it came down to an impulse again. The same "special friend" that paid to get my frenum and Prince Albert done the first time, was in town and we decided to give the PA a second try. But this time, by the way, the frenum was fully healed and happy by this point, even though I had abandoned the poorly-pierced PA.
I promised her we'd do some sight-seeing in Washington D.C. so we were in the area of Georgetown when the subject of piercings came up again. We were driving around, looking for a piercing studio when we came upon Jinx Proof. The place looked nice enough and we stopped in. The piercing just happened to have a spot open later on in the day. I picked out a 10ga circular barbell and he set it to be 'claved.
We did our sightseeing and came back to the shop at the appointed time. Once again, the piercing went really smoothly. I'm not going to go into all the details. You guys have read about 100 of these. There was no numbing, unlike the first time. I actually loved the pain. I was sorry I missed out the first time. *winks* The 10ga ring looked so much better in my penis than the 14ga ever did. Of course, my friend had to go back the next day, so it got a little "testing" that night. *winks*
During the healing period, I had proposed to my girlfriend. Sex with her had become a problem with the Prince Albert. I think she's narrower than some women. Because of this, I took out the Prince Albert one night. I forgot to put it back in and it healed up. This was lesson two: Don't sacrifice your piercings for anyone unless you're fully prepared.
We got married. This was four years ago. And I miss my PA more than anything.
Well, my 27th birthday is in two weeks. My wife is extremely supportive of my getting my Prince Albert redone for the third time. Even though she's wierded out about it and can't understand why I'd subject myself to a piercing, she suggested I get it redone. I'm stoked about it. Third time's the charm, I guess.
I will be sure to report back when I have my new PA!
