Why would a preppy looking, conservative acting, card-carrying Republican (with libertarian leanings) who has chosen a career as a lawyer want a Prince Albert? Read on if you want to know.

For as long as I can remember, I've always had a secret fascination with body art. In high school, I first got my ear pierced in a girl friend's bathroom with a sewing needle. In college I added two more ear piercings (all of which were abandoned after the bar exam) and that, was my personal experience with body art. I always wanted to experiment with more piercings, and get a couple of tattoos if I could ever settle on a design, but I was too timid to go through with it.

I first saw a Prince Albert piercing in a book on tattoos I found in my college library almost 15 years ago. I never imagined that it would be possible to do such a piercing! Then in 1994 or 1995, I got on the internet for the first time, and one of the first web sites I visited was BME. I must have looked at every picture of PAs and I read every experience. I finally decided to take the plunge.

The first obstacle was building up the courage to actually go into a tattoo or piercing shop and actually ask for a Prince Albert. After all, I didn't think I fit the stereotype of the kind of person that would go in and ask for a Prince Albert. At the first shop I went to, they refused to do the piercing, suggesting that a nipple or naval piercing would be more appropriate for a first "below the neck" piercing. The second shop didn't do genital piercings, but they referred me to Briah Dailey at Taurian.

A couple of weeks later, I decided to give it another try, and I went into Taurian. I discussed the piercing with one of their employees extensively but was unable to get the piercing that day as they were pretty busy and there was a group of people ahead of me waiting to get pierced.

I didn't go back. I started dating a girl who found body art unattractive, so I suppressed the urge to get pierced. Things didn't work out, so out of the blue one night, I decided that if I didn't get a Prince Albert then, it would never happen.

THE PROCEDURE

I arrived at Taurian an hour before closing, and luckily, there was nobody ahead of me. After the initial embarrassment of marching in and saying, "I want a Prince Albert," the guy behind the counter was very professional in discussing the procedure, helping me select a 10 gauge circular barbell, and my concerns over bleeding and urinating. I signed the paperwork, and the aftercare was explained to me in detail.

Twenty minutes after walking in, Briah was ready for me in the piercing room which could have passed for an examination room at a doctor's office. My biggest immediate concern was the bleeding. I have read on BME that some piercers will pierce with a 12 gauge needle and immediately stretch the piercing to a 10 gauge to minimize the bleeding. Briah explained that this is not a good practice as it would make the healing more difficult and cause unnecessary discomfort in the days following the piercing. I followed his advice.

In hindsight, this may be a better practice too since the piercing needle will cut the nerves going through a very nerve-rich area of the body. By piercing with a 10 gauge needle, you can avoid unnecessarily damaging nerve endings, and you can then stretch later.

I removed my pants and got up on his the table. My penis had shrunk to an embarrassingly small size, but Briah proceeded to examine my penis for blood vessels in the area of the piercing and take measurements. He also asked me about the size of my penis when erect so that the jewelry would have the proper diameter. He decided that a 1 inch diameter was appropriate. Proper sizing is important for the initial piercing. If the jewelry is too small, it will pinch the penis; if it's too big, it could make healing more difficult. Since a good piercer has seen many penises, this is the time to be honest about the size of your equipment.

Briah then said that he was going to do the piercing on the left of center and a little further back on the shaft than normal due to the location of a vein. He then marked the area.

The receiving tube was uncomfortable. The sensation was like being scratched. He then said to take a deep breath. I felt a sharp sting that made me flinch for a split second. After that, there was no more pain, and Briah said that he was going to insert the jewelry. I hardly felt any sensation for the insertion of the jewelry. He then said that the piercing is bleeding a little, I looked at and couldn't believe that I had a 10 gauge piece of metal in my dick!

Briah then wrapped the head of my penis in some gauze and placed a rubber glove with a rubber band on my penis to catch any blood.

Thirty minutes after walking in, I left on top of the world!

HEALING

After the bleeding issue, my second fear was the urination. After getting home, I drank a liter of water to dilute my urine as much as possible. I couldn't hold it any longer. In the bathroom, it was very clear that I had bled inside the latex glove. I carefully removed it and discovered that blood had congealed in the gauze. Removing the gauze from the piercing caused the bleeding to really start. I was loosing a drop of blood every second and was really making a mess of my bathroom. The first urination didn't hurt at all, but the bleeding wasn't stopping.

I carefully wrapped my penis in new gauze and attached a new glove and went to lay down in bed and read a book. An hour later, I had to go to go to the bathroom again. Again, the gauze was completely soaked through, but this time, there was no bleeding when removing the gauze and urinating.

The next morning, I got up early to do a salt soak and clean up crusted blood on the piercing before my morning shower. The gauze was once again had blood on it, but it wasn't completely soaked. Was worried about bleeding at work, but no problems. When I got home from work, I noticed that the piercing had bled a few drops of blood. After this first day at work, there was no more bleeding from the piercing. For the next several days, the piercing was tender, especially when wearing jeans and sitting down, but there was no real discomfort. It was more like I was just aware that the piercing was there.

After the first week, the piercing there was no discomfort at all with the piercing—it was almost like it was not there. At this time, I couldn't stand it any longer and had to jack off. The sensation was awesome, but the movement of the jewelry made the piercing a little tender again.

After the first month, there have been no crusties at all, and the piercing seemed to be completely healed. The 10 gauge jewelry also began to move very easily in the piercing when not erect.

It has now been a little over two months since the piercing, and I am thinking of stretching the piercing to; however, I don't think I want to go larger than 4 gauge. At this point, the jewelry is definitely a sexual stimulant. The jewelry definitely causes new sensations as it moves in the piercing, but the stimulation may be more mental than anything.

CONCLUSION

I was also worried about other peoples' reactions, especially when standing at a crowded bank of urinals or at the gym. The only reaction I have heard is one of disbelief followed by, "I could never do that." Last weekend, I knew I would be at a sports bar where the customers might not react so well if they saw a ring coming out of a penis, so I took the ring out for a few hours—one of the advantages of using a circular barbell.

Urinating without jewelry in causes is more difficult than with the jewelry in since there is nothing to plug the second hole. The main drawbacks of a Prince Albert is definately urinating. Using a urinal is no problem. When using a regular toilet, you don't have to sit, but you do have to be careful when standing. Most of the problem is urine following the jewelry and dripping from the ball on the end of the barbell. Also, the jewelry tends to cause a spraying effect rather then a stream. I would imagine stretching to a larger gauge circular barbell would make the problem worse, but that is something I think I can live with.

In conclusion, I wish I had gotten a Prince Albert years ago. Any disadvantages are far outweighed by the enhanced stimulation and just the knowledge that you are more adventurous than 95 percent of the people out there. Also, if you haven't been pierced before, piercing is contagious. After summer is over, I want to get my nipples pierced and am thinking of another genital piercing.
