Before the Big Day:
At A Glance Author PA_Piercing Contact PA_Piercing@hotmail.com When A week ago Artist I don't remember his name Studio 23rd Street Body Piercing Location Oklahoma City, OK Let me first start out by saying that I've wanted a piercing since I turned 16. Now that I was 18, I could finally get one without my parents' knowledge. So, now I just had to get one that my parents' wouldn't see, that left me with a choice of tongue, nipple, belly button, or genital. Nipples and belly button were out immediately because I don't think that straight guys should wear them, plain and simple. All that was left was tongue and genital. I had my mind set on a tongue piercing until I realized that when I talked to my parents on the phone they'd be able to tell. So that left one of the many forms a genital piercing. After much reading about the different kinds, I decided that a Prince Albert was the best for me.
Well, the next step was to find the best piercer and location for me. I started with talking to some of my friends who have piercings. I got the names of a few good shops and the names of a couple horrible ones. Next, I decided to look on the internet for individuals in my area. I knew the best review a business can get is from satisfied costumers. Unfortunately, none of the reviews I read were about any places near me, but I did find a link to the Association of Profession Piercers' website (A link to it is at the bottom of this review). Their site is great! It gives you the facts and things to watch out for when going to a shop. Lucky for me, with the help of the APP's Find a Piercer Near You feature, I found a licensed APP piercing parlor within an hour's drive. This was a place that was also recommended to be by some of my friends. Even though I was an hour away, I had to get this done by people that took this seriously. I didn't want anything bad to happen li ke getting an infection from non-sterilized needles and having my penis fall off. Finally all I had to work on was getting the nerves to do it.
Day Of Piercing:
Well, today is the day, I finally decided. The only thing was that I didn't want to go alone. I knew that if I went alone, I'd chicken out and not get it. So I called up one of my friends and she agreed to go with me. We went into the piercing shop, 23rd Street Body Piercing, and asked if they did P.A.s, knowing full well that they did. Anyway, the guy said that they did and we discussed the procedure and aftercare. As we were talking I noticed how immaculate the entire place was. Not only were the floors, counters, and windows clean, but the entire staff was well groomed. After deciding on a 10 gauge 5\8ths diameter ring, the piercer led me and my friend back into the piercing room.
He had me drop my pants and lay back on the chair-type thing. He cleaned the area with some kind of disinfectant, I've forgotten the name, but then I asked if it hurt a lot. He said no, just a strong pinch. Next, was the most uncomfortable part of the whole procedure. In order for the needle not to go through the urethra, something has to catch it. He then began sticking the metal tube to receive the needle into my urethra. I guess it really didn't hurt, just stung more than anything. After asking if I was sure that I still wanted to do this, he had me lay my hands by my sides and take a deep breath and as I was exhaling, he pushed the needle through the underside of my penis into the receiving tube. There was very little pain if any involved. I just felt a gush of air as the needle pierced the skin. After that, he inserted the ring and told me I was done. At this point, I wasn't bleeding at all. But, because I've read reviews about men getting P.A.s, I asked ab out bleeding and he put an inverted glove over my freshly pierced penis. As I pulled up my pants and drove home I was still in shock that I actually went through with it.
By the time that I got home, I had to pee. I had read about some difficulties some people had had with urinating, but certainly I would have no problem. Well, I was wrong. As I started to pee, the urine followed the ring around and just about peed on myself. I found that if you turn the penis 90 degrees to either side, you don't have to worry about peeing on yourself. The piercing had bled a little bit on the way back, but not excessively. After a couple of times of urinating, it stung a little, but that soon went away and I also got the hang of how to aim with it. That night, I probably bled about one to two teaspoons worth of blood. And that was the last that I bled.
Reflecting on the Piercing:
I'm so glad that I actually went through with the procedure. Looking back, I wish that I would have gone through with the piercing as soon as I turned 18 and not waited until I was almost 19. I love the way it looks and feels. Now, I'm just waiting for it to completely heal to put it back into use again.
