I have thought about getting my prince albert pierced for quite some time. I remember getting an email sent to my by my then girlfriends mother, attached to it was a picture of a guys member tied up by a pa to a chain around his waist. I was just starting to get into piercing at the time and this email was intended to turn me off. The exact opposite happened, I was fascinated by it. Before then I never thought anything like it was possible. I immediately searched around and discovered BME for the first time. I ended up reading a few experiences to get the idea of what to expect.
At A Glance Author Morgan Contact Morgan@bme.anon When Two years ago Artist Rick Gilmour Studio Adorned Location Calgary, AB This inspired me to get pierced for the first time. I got my labret pierced shortly after that. I know, I know.. this is supposed to be a story about getting my PA! Well I going to get it pierced right away so asked around a couple of local shops but the piercers weren't too knowledgeable. After that I put the idea of a pa on the back burner because the lack of decent piercers and lack of courage on my part.
A couple years passed and moved to Calgary. I visited quite a few shops around the city to find a piercer that was knowledgeable and friendly. A friend took me to visit a soft-spoken piercer named Rick Gilmour who is very friendly and a very accomplished piercer. He has been piercing since I was still in diapers! Well... not quite. Maybe since I was sporting a permed mullet and watching the movie RAD over and over. I talked with Rick about getting my pa pierced and he assured me that it was a rather simple piercing that he had done many times. I was still a little unsure about getting it done, mostly because of pain factor (I just had my nipples pierced two months prior and the throbbing pain was still etched into my brain). I finally convinced myself to get pierced when I won a free piercing gift certificate at a bbq that Rick invited me and a friend to. That was the sign I was waiting for. The appointment was scheduled for the next day.
I could hardly sleep that night, I was so excited and nervous. The next day I did my pre-piercing routine. A friend of mine took me to a vegetarian Chinese place and we ate a giant lunch so I wouldn't end up passing out on the piercing table. We drove up to Adorned and chatted with Rick about what size and type of jewelry he would use. We decided a 7/8" 8g CBR would do the trick. He then ushered us into the piercing room, which I noticed to be quite clean an organized. Then I hitched down my pants a bit and jumped up onto the piercing table. Rick then explained to me how the piercing was going to go. I really appreciated this because nothing came as a surprise to me, and I knew why he was doing everything. First a piece of paper towel was laid over my groin. Next I was cleaned up a bit and marked with dye in the spot where the needle was to go through.
Then Rick lubed up the receiving tube and slid it down the end of my urethra. I have to say this was the most unpleasant part of the experience. I took a moment to relax a bit and do some breathing. Then the 10g needle was lined up. I took two deep breaths and on the inhalation of the third the needle was pushed through my skin and into the receiving tube. With that I heard a loud snap. It kind of spooked me at the time, but I later realized that it was just needle hitting the receiving tube. I was amazed! It didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would. I thought there would be more to it than that. Then a 8g taper was slid through, and then the 8g CBR came in after. This was done so more pressure would be on the CBR so I wouldn't bleed as much. The bead was put into the CBR, which pinched a little. Then I was wrapped in a bit of paper towel and then a condom was put over the works to prevent me getting blood all over my boxers and pants. I thanked Rick for the job well done and then paid him for the jewelry along with a handsome tip.
I walked out of the shop with a huge grin on my face that didn't disappear for hours. I went to a picnic with a bunch of my friends and everyone commented that I looked extra chipper that day. I couldn't bring myself to tell anyone right away though.
The whole piercing experience was great. Everything was explained to me perfectly in Rick's calming voice (something I took for granted when I later went to my dentist and she wouldn't bother explaining anything to me). The healing of my pa went very quickly. I mixed sea salt with a 1:10 ratio with water and did a couple of soaks a day. Which is fun in of itself considering that a glass full of water magnifies whatever is put in it.
I only had a bit of a problem when I ate some really spicy chili a day after my piercing. All the spice thinned out my blood and I started to drip a bit. Other than that it went very well. It only took a few weeks to completely heal, my fastest healing ever. A couple of months of playing with the piercing and hanging various things from it stretched it out enough to slide in a 6g CBR in easily. My pa has stayed at 6g for the last year or so, I think I'm going to stay at this size for the time being.
The only thing I had to get used to is the best nation in the world, and that is urination. Its a little tricky taking a pee with two peeholes instead of one. During the healing process I had to use the squat method, the ole hovering over the bowl. I now know the fear that so many women speak of. The toilet seat in public places! The bane of my existence. With a little practice peeing upright is possible. You kind of roll the CBR around until the bead is pressed against the piercing hole and keep a little pressure there with your finger. It can be kind of messy at times, but it works. I only use this method in situations like when I'm outside or faced with a foul bowl in a dirty bar. When I'm at home though its the pure comfort of my warm toilet seat. Who needs unwanted standing splashback anyways? Every guy knows what I'm talking about. If not, next time you take that morning pee in your boxers wake up and feel the morning mist.
