I am 19 years old and in my second year at university (College for all you Americans!). I have a small tattoo and both nipples pierced with 8 ga rings. I have been thinking about genital piercings for quite some time now but not seriously until the end of last year. I had just got together with my current girlfriend and found that she was really supportive of my modification (thanks babe!). So I decided that I could happily further explore genital modification. I originally wanted to go with an apadravya but was persuaded away from that by several factors. Firstly, I wanted to start with something a little tamer to see how I liked it, knowing that I could happily move on to an apadravya later. Also I am uncut and I have heard of several problems with apadravyas on uncut men.

So I decided to go with a Prince Albert. I have only ever been to one piercer, David at Absolution Body Piercing in Christchurch, and I swear I will never change. He has pierced me, stretched me and given solid and honest advice since the beginning, and I trust him totally. I go to university in a different city so I made the decision that I would get pierced during the holidays. I went in and asked if he would give me a PA at 8 ga. He said that was no problem, and that it was a very sensible gauge to start at seeing as most people aren't happy with theirs until they're that big anyway! So I made an appointment for 11 in the morning on Friday the 19th of April.

The day arrived, finally, and I was very very nervous. I had researched extensively and knew what I was in for. My girlfriend accompanied me for moral support, as well as because she wanted to watch! So we got into the studio and he was all set up and ready to go. Jewellery and clamps set out on the sterile surface ready to go, along with the needle still in its case. I knew already that David uses cannula needles so I knew what I was in for in that regard.

He asked me to lie down on the special bench he uses (padded with an incline for the upper body) and to make myself as comfortable as possible. So I dropped my trousers down to my knees and exposed my extremely frightened penis! Beware guys, it actually shrinks right into your body! I have never seen my penis that small in all my life.

He explained that he was going to do the piercing probably a little differently to the way it is usually done. He explained that he pierces inside to outside, eliminating the need for a receiving tube. He also said that he would pierce with a 10 ga needle and then stretch to an 8 ga straight away. I was happy with this and we were good to go.

His bedside manner is impeccable and I didn't really feel like my penis was in the hands of a stranger at all! So he inserted the needle into my urethra which was just a little uncomfortable. I don't know to this day how it was done. I know he uses cannula needles, but I am unsure as to whether the cannula (blunt ended) went in first and then the needle was exposed through the end, or whether the needle was exposed and he just has very steady hands. Because I didn't feel any scratching or anything.

He asked if I was ready, I said yes. And he pierced me. Yes it hurt, it hurt worse than my nipple, which was pierced with an 8 ga needle. It hurt more than my industrial, it hurt more than most things I have ever experienced. The pain was sharp and intense BUT, it lasted about 2 seconds. Then he pulled the needle back through the inside of the cannula, and there was just a piece of hollow plastic holding my freshly made hole open.

There is something about the pain of getting pierced. The pain is more intense than you thought you could handle, but you always DO handle it and as soon as the needle is through, with the exception of cartilage, it STOPS. Absolutely stops. Its one of the most amazing feelings I think. Totally unique.

So this is what happened. I had a quick look down but David asked me to relax so I lay back. Then he inserted the taper into the end of the cannula and eased it through. This was worse than the piercing, but only because it lasted longer. The first smooth manoeuvre was to ease the cannula out as he eased the taper in to the same gauge as the cannula was. He then discarded the cannula and began the second manoeuvre which was the stretch itself.

I have to say that it was the same pain each time. Intense, white hot, but very short. Once the stretch was over he asked if I was OK, and I said that I was, although it felt like I wasn't entirely there. So he then followed the taper through with the ring. Once again, same pain as before, although perhaps not as intense this time, and certainly very short lived.

Then we were all done! He carefully rolled the foreskin back over the piercing and said that I should continue to wear briefs through the healing period. He continued with his good aftercare advice, sea salt soaks twice a day, no sex for a few weeks, take things gently etc etc. And that was that.

I walked out, a little bowlegged! And felt really strange! Adrenaline was RUSHING through me like a river, and I felt amazing! Sore, but amazing!

Peeing seemed to hurt me for a good while afterwards, just over a week. But the best thing about this method of piercing meant that it didn't bleed! Not a drop! I followed some good advice I heard on BME, which is to pee into a glass of warm water for the first wee while, it makes it a whole lot easier!

Healing was pretty standard! I resisted the temptation to "use" it for just over a week. And I was VERY gentle the first time. It was a little sore for a day after that but no big deal!

My girlfriend came to visit the next weekend (this is 2 weeks after piercing) and I was faced with a dilemma! I could either have sex and risk pain, or not have sex! But sex won in the end, and although I could feel it the whole time with the occasional twinge of pain, it wasn't all that bad! Plus the sex was great, as always!

So it healed in time but I did have a slight problem with it. The ring was too big in diameter. It went off to one side during sex and was a little uncomfortable at times for me. Added to that was the fact that because it was off to one side, my girlfriend couldn't really feel it during sex.

So I decided that instead of forking out money for new jewellery at 8 ga, I would kill two birds with one stone! So I decided to stretch to 6 ga and get a smaller diameter ring in the process. I had read that PAs tend to be easy to stretch and they, in fact, tend to stretch themselves.

So I decided to order in a ring and try stretching myself. The ring was a Wildcat Jewellery BCR, 4mm thick and 15mm in diameter. It arrived in due course, and I waited just a little longer to make sure healing was complete.

So I tried stretching in the shower, so the hole would be nice and pliable. I used circlip pliers coated with electrical tape to open the rings and had no trouble with that.

I removed the 8 ga ring and tried to insert the 6 ga. DISASTER. It refused to go in, and I kept slipping and nearly losing the ring down the drain. So I would NOT recommend this at all. I popped the 8 ga ring back in, disappointed.

So instead I decided to get David to stretch it. So I went in there and explained my situation. He said that was fine and to come on through. Old ring came out no problem and he lubed up the taper and put it in. He gently eased it through. This hurt just as much as the original piercing all over again. I didn't really expect it, so it wasn't all that pleasant. But, just like everything else, as soon as it was over, it was OVER. The pain stopped, and the 6 ga ring was inserted behind the taper no trouble at all. I thanked him and paid what he asked, a VERY small fee (about $2 american) for the service.

I am VERY happy with my PA now. It is a good fit and my girlfriend and I both enjoy it during sex. It completes my triangle with my nipples and I am SO pleased I got it.

I hope this has been useful to somebody!
