I'm a 46-year old guy who got a PA 4 years ago. It lasted 2 weeks before I took it out, frustrated that I couldn't pee straight. But, I always regretted taking it out.

I might mention that I am a business owner of a manufacturing company in a very conservative industry. In addition to having the piercings, I am heavy tattooed – my last count is over 60 hours of tattoo time. All of my body adornments have to be coverable to avoid objections from customers and employees.

After getting my nipples pierced earlier this year (the experience was previously submitted to BME), I decided to, at last, get the PA that I always longed for. I called the shop in Madison, WI where I had gotten the PA years ago and found that the piercer had moved out-of-state. The piercer who did my nipples wasn't experienced enough to do the PA. After talking to a friend who had many piercings, I was referred to Jamie at Altered Evolution in West Allis, WI (a suburb of Milwaukee). After visiting with Jamie and asking many, many questions, and reading virtually every submission to the BME website, I decided to go through with it. One of my primary concerns was being able to pee without sitting down on the toilet for the rest of my life. Four years ago, I was too naοve to even consider the problem of peeing and the result was frustration which led me to take the PA out after only 2 weeks. This time I was ready and confident.

I intentionally waited a couple of weeks before getting the PA. Some out-of-town business trips had to be completed first. My wife accompanied me on the Saturday of my appointment. I was familiar with the procedure; I was looking forward to getting the PA but I knew the discomfort that I was about to experience – a definite disadvantage because I knew the discomfort of the first pee.

One advantage this time is that I knew what size of jewelry that I wanted. I selected a 7/8" 8 gauge CBR. Inserting the receiving tube was far less painful from what I remembered – I have the feeling that the piercer 4 years ago didn't properly lubricate the tube before insertion. The actual piercing was what I expected – a very sharp jab that lasted just a split second. It was a rush realizing that a metal ring is now part of your anatomy. Jamie covered the piercing with a condom and rubber band instead of a latex glove. This was far less bulky and less noticeable as a bulge in your pants. I later bought inexpensive non-lubricated condoms, which I covered over my paper towel wrapped dick. I used condoms from that Saturday until the following Monday evening when I was sure that there would be no more bleeding.

The dreaded first pee was rightfully dreaded. It hurt like hell – then the bleeding started. It literally gushed out the bottom hole. This continued every time I peed that Saturday night – I was scared. Fortunately, my wife who has a nurse's training reassured me that it was okay. By Sunday morning, the bleeding had stopped. I intentionally didn't plan any yard work that weekend and instead took it easy to avoid any accidental bumping or jarring of my healing dick.

I didn't try to pee standing up for 4 weeks. In the meantime, I continued to read and correspond with BME readers seeking advice on how to pee straight. The advice I got was varied but it all seemed logical. After a month had passed, I started experimenting with peeing standing up. With trial and error, I found a technique, which was a combination of suggestions. I turn the head of the penis so that the ring is horizontal. Then I intentionally hold urinating off until I get a powerful stream from the head of the penis. This has eliminated any side spray or leaking from the bottom hole. My advice for those contemplating getting a PA is to correspond via e-mail with those that have PAs.

My wife was not at all sure that I was doing the right thing in getting a PA but as a 46-year old business owner, my decisions are usually well thought out. We waited the recommended 4 weeks for sex; our first intercourse was painful during the initial insertion but once in, it felt incredible good – to both of us. For me it seems like a much tighter fit. For her, she experienced direct g-spot stimulation. The PA has added a definite positive dimension to our sex lives.

As you read this, it will be 2 months since I got my PA. One concern I had was that once the piercing has healed, the hole on the bottom will be permanent and if the PA is ever removed, the hole will always remain, albeit possibly smaller. For this reason, I have considered removing the PA – but then common sense comes back. I wanted the PA, I realized potential drawbacks (the peeing aspect of it and the permanence of the piercing), but ultimately, I intend to keep it.

I have the highest respect of Jamie at Altered Evolution in West Allis, Wisconsin. It's important to find a professional who has the experience and training. As Jamie can attest, I quizzed him heavily before going to him for the PA. I will use him exclusively for piercings in the future.

I would encourage anyone contemplating a PA to think hard about it before going through with it. I did this – and I have absolutely no regrets. I enjoy it immensely – as does my wife.
