Now that I think of the piercing, it may have been painfull but it was worth every penny. Before you go and get one, try and find a guy that you know, you can trust, or has a good reputation. You dont want to walk in to some place where a bunch of dumbasses work, and have them over charge you, and fuck you shit up.
About the healing, if you do everything i wrote down in the previous paragraph, you should be fine. I did just what I said, and I healed up real fine and fast. Also try to wash it about two to four times a day. I still was it about two to three times a day. Trust me, if you really care about you best friend, you will wash him just as much as I did.
