I first was interested in a piercing 5 years ago when a neighbor of mine got a frenum. His girlfriend loved it. I didn't have the money then, and then had girlfriends uninterested in me being pierced, so I just sort of forgot about it.

Then a couple of years ago I dated a girl with a hood piercing. I told her about my wanting to get pierced and she offered to hook me up with her friend Tom who did her piercing. I was going to do it, but then wound up having second thoughts.

Finally, 2 months ago, I went and had it done. Initially I went for a frenum, but Tom talked me out of that and into a PA. He had both and found the PA to be, in his words, "an all-around better piercing". He said it healed with less pain, less bleeding, and was more comfortable.

I picked out a ring, opting for 12 gauge to start (though I plan to get a 10 gauge ring pretty soon - he told me he had a 4 gauge, yikes!). We went into the back, and I took off my shorts. First he measured me to see what size ring I needed (they ranged from 1/2 to 3/4 inches), then cleaned me. It did feel a little strange having a guy handle my dick, but I figure he's seen a million of them.

After being cleaned, a tube(?) was lubricated and inserted into my urethra. That was the most uncomfortable part of the whole experience. It was inserted to catch the piercing needle. He then counted down from three, I felt a tiny pain, and then felt an incredible rush over my whole body. I don't even know how to describe it.

My neighbor told me (he had been in the Army) that it was like jumping out of an airplane. I've never done that, but I have done some cliff diving, and I think that's a good analogy. Just imagine something you do that fills you with adrenaline.

Back to the studio, Tom asked if I wanted to see the needle in my dick, but I refused. I felt like sort of a wuss, but I am squeamish when it comes to needles in MY flesh. He put the ring in, gave me the care instructions, and I left.

For the next couple of hours I felt very euphoric.

Maintenance was pretty easy, cleaning twice a day and wrapping with gauze. It does bleed for the first few days. One day a girl sat on my lap, and that caused it to bleed a little more than usual. The next time I urinated after that, the urine came out of the piercing hole, spraying bloody urine all over my legs and shorts(!). Then the clot dislodged and all was fine. It was actually pretty funny, though it does sound disgusting.

Erections were uncomfortable at first, but after three days, I couldn't take it anymore and had to masturbate. I wanted to see if it would feel different. My advice would be to wait as long as possible before masturbating! It wasn't painful exactly, but it did cause me to bleed a little. It probably would have been better to wait a week or so.

The first time I had sex with it was after two weeks. Putting a condom on was a little painful, and sex was a little uncomfortable from certain angles. However, after four weeks it felt fine. Not exactly normal yet, but I hear that can take 6 months to a year before it is fully 100% healed.

One thing I've found interesting is the variety of reactions I get from people. One of my friends, who I always thought to be pretty open minded, was revulsed by the idea. He gave me a bunch of shit for doing it. Whereas another friend of mine (who is 39), thought it was cool.

I'd say it is important to find a good studio, where they will answer but I didn't get my piercing for the feeling of having a needle go all your questions that they've heard a million times before. If I hadn't felt as comfortable as I did at Absolute, and had they not been as patient with my questions, I don't think I would have done it. Tom also told me that if I thought there was anything wrong with it, to come in and he'd look at it. I actually did do that, just to make sure it was healing OK - but I thought it was very cool of him to offer.

It's funny, reading some of the other experiences on the site (people doing it themselves, etc) my experience might sound a little tame, through my dick. I got my piercing as a sexual enhancement.

It has definitely been an enhancement, both for me and my partner. If you are thinking of doing it, I say go for it.
