Recently I started on some anti-depressant medication. The Doctor told me one side effect might be decreased sex drive. Well, I still had the drive, but it took a little longer to get where I was going than before, so I went back to the Doctor. Because the medication was working otherwise, we did not want to change that. He suggested I might consider a frenum piercing, as I am quite tattooed, and have several piercings already. It was a safe assumption that I would be open to the idea. Basically it would add to the stimulation, and might give me the extra help I needed!

I liked the look of a frenum, or a ladder, so I decided to go ahead and give it a try.
The first thing I needed to do was locate a piercing studio that I felt comfortable with. I live in San Francisco, and there are a lot of choices here, but not all of them are GOOD choices. The most obvious starting point was the Haight Ashbury neighborhood; it's full of piercing places. I settled on Cold Steel America partly because they have a great selection of jewelry, and partly because they seemed really friendly and helpful.
I went in on a weekday, right after they opened at noon. While I was looking at jewelry a lot of people came and went, and the staff was really patient and helpful with each of them. I was not rushing into this, mostly still afraid of the pain involved. As I hung out, I asked a lot of questions. What kind of jewelry do they use? Barbell or Ring? What size is best? How long should it be? They were really patient in answering all my questions. A barbell would heal easier than a ring, and they showed me a couple options for size. When it comes to length, I guess that has a lot to do with "My Anatomy" so we would be letting the piercer decide that one.
I spent about 45 minutes staring at the jewelry case trying to work up the guts to get on with it. They were extremely patient, and told me to take my time "They were here all day". No pressure at all, to either get it done or to get out. I knew if I was going to do it, it would be here. I finally decided to pay for it and get the ball rolling, figuring that if I dove in, I would get it done and over with rather than wait and obsess over it! I paid, and had to wait just a few minutes while they set up.
Before I knew it, it was my turn. Still a little worried, my piercer led me to the back room, set up just like a Doctors office. He had me drop my shorts and lay back on the table, which even had the roll of paper like at the Doctors! All the equipment was sterilized, or sealed. No worries about cleanliness.
The first thing he did was mark the spot, using ink and a toothpick. That seemed weird to me, but he explained that was how they kept it disposable. I guess I was expecting a regular pen, but this made sense. He asked me where I was thinking of it, upper or lower dow the shaft. I wanted it close to the top. He made a few marks and asked me what I thought.
I would say that this is probably the hardest part of the procedure; the placement. I kind of knew what I wanted it to look like when I was erect, but at this moment I was far from that point. I don't know about other people, but when some guy is about to poke me with a needle down there, I am not "at my best". I could kind of tell it was about where I thought it would be, so I said to go ahead. I just wanted to get the whole thing over with!
Next he used a forceps clamp to pull the skin out, and was really good about explaining everything. I really was trying to tune him out, and get it over with. He told me to take a deep breath, and there would be a little poke. Uh oh, here it comes! I breathe in, and out, and POKE! It was done! He quickly slid the jewelry in, and I was done! "That's it?" I was amazed how little it actually hurt! The anticipation was so much worse than the reality of the situation!
He asked me to take a look, I gave it a glance, and I thought it looked great. I was still amazed by how painless it was, and already thinking I should be doing more! I went home, and checked myself out in the mirror some more, Loved what I saw. I made up my mind to come back the next day, and get more.
The next day I went back, and asked if I could add to it, make it a ladder. I got four more barbells, the same size. I was a little tender from the first one, but overall very impressed by how little it bled, and how easy it all went. We talked about how far apart I wanted them, and I wanted them pretty close, about 8 1/2 centimeters apart, or a little over 5/8 of an inch. It was a little harder marking the second time, because they all had to be even with the first piercing, and spaced evenly. After spending a little time getting that perfect, it was time to do the piercing. This time around I was not afraid at all. In fact, I was looking forward to it all day! Hurry up! I want to see that ladder! I couldn't wait.
We were going to add four piercings, and decided to go from farthest away towards the first piercing, as it would most likely be more painful the closer we got. Get the easy ones out of the way first. The first one went in, no problem. It was no big deal. Numbers two and three went well also, maybe a little bit more pain just because I was expecting it. The last one was close to the original, and that area was a little more tender, when we did it I felt it the most, but it was still not so bad. It was still better than what I went in originally expecting!
So now I have 5 rungs in the ladder, and it's been a month. I am waiting for these to finish healing, and I will get more next month. I am hoping to add another 6 then, possible as many as 8.
As for healing, it's going really well. I followed the advice to leave it alone, soak it in salt water, etc. After a week I tried it out, very carefully, and gotta give a big thanks to my Doctor; it is amazing! The added stimulation has made a HUGE difference, and I really love how it looks. As for sex with it, WOW!!! I can't say enough about the difference it makes! I can only speak for me, but I can't belive more guys haven't discovered this trick!
