Over two and a half years ago, I got my first three frenum piercings and wrote "Three Rungs Up the Ladder" for BME. Since then I've seen my life change drastically, but I always knew I'd eventually get back to continue my frenum ladder. Before I get to my newest additions, I want to answer some commonly asked questions that people often e-mailed me with.

Healing beyond the first week was nondescript. I went from two-a-day cleaning to one-a-day cleaning in the shower after about 20 to 25 days. Crusties never really accumulated, and by eight weeks, I was up to full speed. Sickness, however, has seriously bothered my ladder. I've had a few head colds since getting the ladder and have noticed an interesting pattern. Before the outbreak of sickness, my ladder would get horribly crusty out of nowhere. It would be worse than when I got the piercings done, and it would last about five to seven days before my sickness actually began. By the time I was sneezing and wheezing, however, the ladder would quickly improve, and by the time I was healthy, the ladder would be like nothing had ever happened.
So what about sex?
Honestly, the frenum ladder has done little to nothing in terms of stimulation for me. I find it visually appealing and love to hear the clanking of the metal, but I cannot say that the climax is any better. Sex with my wife is very satisfying. We had to experiment to find the best positions for us, but I can't complain about that. The ladder has further increased my penis's girth, which is now just over six inches in circumference. My wife says that she can feel my 2ga PA and frenum piercings during intercourse, and it helps to keep her filled and satisfied. As a side note, I must recommend a good lubricant for sex, as you will want to keep everything moving smoothly.
Anything else you've noticed in the past two and a half years?
One final thing occurred to me last year. I wanted to give my three piercings and the barbells a good cleaning. So, I took them out, took a shower, and cleaned the three barbells. Twenty minutes later, when I went to try and put the piercings back in, they wouldn't go. Embarrassed and worried, I jumped in my car and drove the 90 minutes to Pleasurable Piercings in Hawthorne, NJ. Luis, the second in command, greeted me. I told him of my predicament and asked if he could taper them back in. Thankfully, he was able to get them back, although it was extremely painful. Twenty-four hours after this incident, all three piercings were fine, like nothing had ever happened. Moral of the story: I bought an 8ga taper, because frenum piercings shrink very, very quickly.
Getting back to the present, on Saturday, I went over to Pleasurable to have the next three piercings done on my ladder. Luis was there at the desk, and I told him it was time to get the next three frenum piercings done. We quickly reviewed jewelry choice, and I informed him that I would be continuing with 8ga, 5/8" length stainless steel barbells. I filled out the usual paperwork and paid my two hundred dollars. Luis gave me two different products for cleaning: Provon and H2Ocean. I have used Provon for all of my below the neck piercing, and I've had very good experiences with it. The H2Ocean is something I've heard of and I'm willing to give it a fair try. I then took a seat to wait.
After about fifteen minutes Bill, Pleasurable Piercings's owner and head piercer, popped out from the back room. He welcomed me back after not seeing me for a while and invited me into the piercing room. As always the room was immaculate. We shared some small talk as he prepped the area. I reviewed with him the three piercings that I already have, adding that I want to keep the barbells the same gauge and length down the rest of my shaft. Bill was surprised to be reminded that I was originally pierced at 8ga. The size has been good to me so far, so I've seen no reason to change.
When Bill was ready, I dropped my pants and sat down on the "napkin" covered chair. He took out a pen to mark the area. After some fifteen seconds, I noticed a funny look on Bill's face. I knew what he was looking at. About midway down my penis, I have a vein that runs across it, about where the fifth piercing on the ladder would go. Sure enough, that was what he was checking out. I told him to do what he could and just work around the area. Bill spent another minute assessing the situation and then made his marks. He gave some extra room between what would be piercings four and five to accommodate the vein. I expressed my approval and let him continue. He got out the forceps to clamp the area.
Bill told me to breathe and he stuck the needle for the first piercing. It was a quick sharp sensation, followed by a bit of a burning feel. It was funny because after the piercing, a wave of peaceful relaxation came over my body. It was a good feeling, although I wouldn't call it sexual by any stretch. There was barely a drop of blood, so Bill got ready on the next piercing. He had a little difficulty getting the forceps in position, noting that in that spot I'm a little thin and it would be harder to get the depth in the piercing that he would really want. Bill added, however, that after this one, he felt that down the rest of my shaft there should be no problem for the sixth piercing and when I eventually go beyond six.
Nonetheless, Bill got a good position and did the piercing without issue. It didn't even hurt as much as the previous one, but he caught me a little off guard, and I jumped a bit at the surprise. Thankfully, there was no harm. Bill then got ready for the final piercing. Since it was so far down the shaft, he asked me to steady the top of my penis by holding it in place. So, I was sitting there my index fingers on the head of my penis holding it up. All I could think was by the end of this piercing, I was going to give my self an accidental ampallang, because I was sure that when the piercing was going to get done I'd wind up burying my fingers into the head of my penis. The worries didn't materialize, as this piercing was virtually painless. I barely noticed it, and I would say that was probably the least painful piercing that I've ever had. Best of all, there was very little blood.
With the three piercings done, I put my pants back on and got ready to leave. I talked to Bill about a tattoo that I am planning, left a nice sized tip, and went on my way. I would have liked to talk to him about some scrotal work I'd like to get done in the future, but he had a half-dozen belly buttons to do after me, so I decided it'd have to wait for another time.
It's over a 90 minute drive from Hawthorne, NJ to my apartment in Bethlehem, PA. Reaching home, I gave the new piercings their first cleaning. There was some more blood, but it stayed on my penis and scrotum. I popped in the shower and lathered up with Provon. The soap left a definite burning sensation, but I expected it. I patted dry and kept a tissue around my penis to soak up any additional bleeding. Later that night, I did one more cleaning in the shower with Provon and put on the H2Ocean after the shower. The H2Ocean is supposed to be good for softening crusties and promote healing. At the very least, I decided it was worth a try.
The following morning I woke up with no blood and not much in the way of discharge. Since no vein was hit and there was so little bleeding, the piercing area was largely free of black and blues, something I wasn't so lucky with for the first three piercings. Sleeping wasn't that difficult, although some positions magnified the irritation of having the new piercings. I honestly had forgotten the little things of how the body moves and all the jostling about that my penis takes on a daily basis. For my Sunday night cleaning there was no blood and little discharge. I washed in the shower with Provon. There was very little burning. After the shower, I gave a couple added sprays of the H2Ocean. Sleeping was uncomfortable, as I tossed and turned, and every movement magnified the still tender area.
Monday morning, I took another shower getting ready for work. While cleaning, I found myself involuntarily cleaning my PA and healed frenum piercings, also. I kept the same cleaning routine. After my day of work, I exercised, and took another shower. While there was some irritation after work, there was little more than a drop of blood, and virtually no visible discharge. Before bed, I cleaned the area with H2Ocean. So far, the only thing that bothered me was that ever since getting the piercing, the top area of my scrotum was a little sore. I wasn't sure if this is sympathy pain or anything, but I was just going to keep an eye on it for now.
I slept well Monday night, not too much trouble. My wife has been under a "no touching" policy. She can look, but no touching for two weeks. After that, we may try protected sex if my healing is going fast enough. It's hurting her, but I'm pretty sure that it's hurting me more. Tuesday featured a morning cleaning in the shower, a post-work cleaning with H2Ocean, and a pre-bed washing at the sink with Provon and H2Ocean.
Wednesday's aftercare routine echoed Monday. There was no blood and virtually no discharge of any sort. Visually, the piercings look like they've always been there. They were only slightly redder than my other frenums and seem well anchored in my skin. Bill did an incredible job with the piercings. With so much pent up sexual energy, I tried and was successfully able to masturbate to orgasm using a very careful "head-centric" stroke. The frenums were never touched during the process.
Thursday's aftercare followed Tuesday's since my daily routines are similar. The odd soreness at the top of my scrotum had largely disappeared. The pain seemed tied to the soreness that my new piercings were also having. Overall, the whole area was looking good, less and less irritation each day, some itching, though, but that's a sign of healing. As long as there isn't any pressure on the area, I don't feel anything is even there. Walking and sleeping have largely become business as usual. However, I wouldn't go around recommending tight underwear to anyone.
Friday mirrored the previous day's routine. There were no changes in anything. Saturday was one week from getting the piercings. I again cleaned them in the shower in the morning after exercising, used some more H2Ocean in the afternoon, and I gave it another full washing that night. Everything was looking good, and I was not about to do anything to jinx it.
That pretty much brings me to the point where I am now. I intend to keep this aftercare routine for about another week and then switch to a once-a-day cleaning in the morning, using H2Ocean for cleaning any buildup during the rest of the day.
There is enough space at the base of my penis for about two more piercings. However, a vein that runs along that area may make it unadvisable. Upon my next visit to Pleasurable, I will have to talk to Bill about it. I am really looking forward to sex with my wife, even though I don't really expect much of a change. Either way, I know it will be fun. She already refers to my ladder as "her toys."
