When A week ago
Hello,

My name is Rick and I live in a sleepy suburb of Boston. About twelve years ago I decided to get my nipple pierced. I am very impulsive and so the day it crossed my mind was the day I did it. Ouch. O.K. it really wasn't that bad but it seemed to hurt for months afterwards. No pain no gain. So here I was with one piercing. Fine. Then one day I decided it would be a good idea to pierce my frenum. I also thought at this point that I could probably do it myself and right away. Did I mention I was impulsive? So, I sterilized a small nail, took a bath, and proceeded to do it. Failure, but that's another story. Anyway, some years later, when I decided I could handle another piercing (professional this time) I got a vertical guiche. This left me optimistic about future piercings as it healed in no time (even though I changed the jewelry and upped the gauge after a week). Now, I don't know if the following is dangerous or not.

But, what worked for me may not be the right choice for another.

So...it's some years later and I get the itch to pierce my scrotum. This time I do some research by reading and carefully examining pictures for placement. I decide I can do this myself so I get everything I think I'll need: 14g needles, lube, rings, corks and forceps. Then I go to town...downtown so to say.

I decide I wanted a five ring Jacob's ladder and two Hafadas. I do the first of the ladder. Now, if you've ever pierced yourself you might relate to the fact that once the needle went in, I immediately pulled it out. Reflex I guess. If something hurts you tend to remove the offender. This happened twice before I managed to go all the way through. It also took me a bit of time to get the needle through because I just couldn't brace myself for the old one, two, three go routine. Successful it was, however, and I put the ring in and voila. The ring was fine. The floating ball took forever! O.K. one down.

Now for number 2 on the ladder. Not as easy. The ladder is all about centering. It's really a drag because the scrotum doesn't stay loose generally, plus one testicle hangs lower. So what seemed like it was centered changed with the shift of the sac. What was I to do? Yes, practice makes perfect. I just kept poking until I felt it was right. Of course by then I was using a not so sharp needle as I had only got enough to do it right the first time. Also, there are an awful lot of blood vessels in the scrotum. As long as the needle's in, everything is fine...but as soon as it comes out...bloodbath city.

Now, I'm trying to insert the ring and can't find the holes through the blood, plus now I have more holes than I actually am using...faux holes. The blood makes everything slippery and the holes are now invisible. I splash water on myself to see the point where the blood is leaking indicating a hole. It takes forever...and then some. This is now proving to be the hardest part of home piercing by Rick. Eventually I manage to get the ring in the entrance hole and of course cannot find the exit. It was here a second ago. What's going on? Sometimes I have to just push through what looks like the exit hole. It's kind of like seeing something under ice. You can see it, but who knows how thick the ice really is. Sometimes I manage to push it through, other times I have to start again. Now this happens pretty much each time I try for another "link" on the ladder. So, pretend I tell this story several more times.

I seem to lose a lot of blood and my bathroom looks like a murder scene. Plus, all the endorphins make me a bit nauseous and light headed. Anyway, the procedure takes hours for just 2 successes. Time to stop for the day.

Two weeks later I try again without a great deal of ease. It's really just the same except I add two Hafadas to the mix, which, by the way, are a hell of a lot easier to do than the ladder. As I've said, it's hard piercing the scrotum. My ladder is not perfect. Different depths and slight alignment issues are to blame. The piercing area has formed somewhat of a plateau when my sac is loose. I think it's fine though and am generally happy with the results. I am still in the recovery process doing several sea salt soaks daily and twice daily cleanses with Provon. For the first time in years I find myself wearing underwear in order to support and protect my new piercings. Sleeping is also a bit tougher.

When I tell my friends and show them all the extra holes and my black and blue scrotum and my bloody T-shirt and jock strap, the story is slightly more graphic. But, all is well that ends well and now I have 2 Hafadas and a four link ladder. Plus of course my nipple, guiche and missing frenum.

I have two needles left and soon I will put another link on. Remember kids, practice makes perfect. I am 37 and also recently started getting tattoos. I never thought I would get one but two years ago I got 4 in 3 days and just got my 7th. Very addicting. And, I don't know how I put up with all the pain (although I must admit it's not as bad one would think).

I went to the dentist recently and needed tons of Novocain...just for a cleaning! Go figure.....

Happy piercing,

RICK ;-) If I had a cam, I would show you...someday.
