Ok, Ill start this lengthy entry by telling you how I got into piercings. I had seen people with facial piercings. I thought they were the coolest thing I had ever seen. Imagine, putting a ring in your body other than in your ears, amazing. At that point I decided that I wanted to get my septum pierced. I had a couple of obstacles to overcome before hand...1) I was 15 and no one would pierce me, 2) My mom would kick my ass. I figured *well, Ill get the septum and deal with my mom when I have to.* After a long time of going from studio to studio I found one that really didnt give a rats ass that I was only 15. So I got my septum done there. Thanks Jesse....... you the man. It was great, the combination of fear, pain, and adrenaline was a feeling that, to this day, cannot be matched. I then found out that Hey, a retainer can be hidden. My mom doesnt have to know, and my job wont fire me... wooohoooooo. It was an all around great experience.

Now Im sure youve heard the term, *once you start, you cant stop.* Well, I discovered how true that expression really is. From that point forward I kept getting more, and then stretching them. Since then Ive had my labret, bridge, eyebrow, tongue webbing, helix, tragus, nipples, and ladder done. A lot of them had to come out , because of work, infection, or general boredom. My parents eventually accepted it and never really bothered me about it.

As of right now I still have my septum, earlobes, and ladder.

But this story is not about my history of getting pierced, its about doing my own piercing. I wanted to get my ladder done again but being a student living away from home, $70 Canadian for a piercing is a lot of money. However going to BMEZINE.COM and ordering a clamp and 2 x 14 gauge needles is not a lot of money, and besides, I wanted to do it by myself. I wanted to see if I could actually bring myself into a state of mind were I could push a needle through my penis by myself. I got my hands on my equipment and decided that I would wait till the weekend to do it. 20 minutes later I decided that the weekend was too far away so I went into the washroom and started setting up. I had everything set up; sterilzed needles, sterilized clamp, vitiman E gel as lubricant for the needle, a marking pen, and of course the sweet sounds of the Dilinger Escape Plan playing on my decrepet 1982 tape deck.

I sat there naked, with the lights out and a flash light (to make sure Im not gonna hit anything that would result in an embarrassing trip to the hospital) and I marked the path. I turned on the lights, took the needle, put a little bit of the vitamin E gel on it, and clamped the spot.

I thought it would be a good idea to do the standard 1, 2, 3, breathe technique, but honestly, It really doesnt prepare you for the pain, it only creates more anxiety and amplifies the pain by 10. So I said fuck it, Im just gonna push it through.... thats it.

Now I dont know how many of you have had a clamp holding your dick in one hand, and a very sharp needle in the other. It causes your hands to shake, and in my case, quite a bit. It took a lot of time just sitting there to make the shaking stop.

So I did it..... I pushed it right through, all the way with no pausing in the middle. I could believe it. I think in the back of my mind I thought I would chicken out. I thought the needle would touch my skin and I would go *ouch, this isnt for me* and put the stuff away and forget about it. But no, I actually did it. I chased the needle with a barbell as I had seen it been done many times before, and that was that. I had a self pierced cock. Almost no pain (or maybe I was so pumped about it, that I couldnt feel the pain) Then I did another one using the same procedure and that one was just as fun. Once again, an all around great experience.

I plan on eventually doing the full ladder, all the way up, as well as my scrotum. But I think Ill leave the transcrotal to the experts, I might want to have kids someday.

For anyone who is planning on doing it yourself... make sure you know what your doing......... like I said, you really don't want to be making any extremely embarassing trips to the emergency room.
