I've wanted hafadas for a long time and have tried and failed a number of times. Every time I tried, the piercings would either tear or eventually migrate to the point that they had to be removed. I came to the conclusion that they weren't suitable for me and decided to cut my losses. After a time of great deliberating and seeing the pictures on bme of guys with huge ladders (30-40) rings I decided to try again. In the past I had gone with the single pierce at a time. This time I decided to go further, the first session "installing" 5 rings, the second 4 and the third another 6. After checking the piercings a couple of days later I knew that a few had to be removed because they were either not straight or in line. I was left with 12 piercings, a mixture of 10 gauge titanium, niobium and implantation grade stainless steel. I decided to go for a range of materials to see which would suit me better, (I ultimately wanted a ladder that would stretch from the base of the penis right round to a guiche) to aid me with further piercings. With my previous attempts the rings would've torn after a month and/or developed the dreaded keloids which would seem to take forever to shift, but this time they seemed to be healing fine. After a 3-month period I had now had 8 piercings, the majority of which were healing well. They were still secreting a little but I figured that would be crustiness on them for a long time due to the location, and there was no sign of infection (i.e. redness/pain/strange coloured secretions).A week ago I noticed what I thought was a lump in my scrotum and became a bit concerned about it, as you would. On the right side there seemed to be an unusual sponginess with a little pain. I decided to ride it out for a while and see what would happen. I was a little apprehensive about going to the doctors (due to the fact I thought it would be fun to dye my pubic hair blue.. bright blue). Two days later I began to get a cramp in my groin towards the right side of my abdomen, as well as pain in my right testicle. This kind of felt like my testicles were being pulled and then pushed back inside my body as well as a crushing sensation in the right. Although I know some people find this pleasant let me say it wasn't. I couldn't sleep because of it and I thought I was gonna throw up at any minute. As I said not pleasant.
Now I was real worried and decided to go to the doctors, by this time I felt light headed and nauseous while finding it difficult to make any physical movement without being in complete agony. I was examined and got the reaction "Oh my god!" (the blue) and "Well! You've certainly got some hardware down here!" (My scrotum ladder and Prince Albert). The doctor wasn't sure exactly what was wrong with me and shipped me off to casualty. 2 hours later I had been admitted and was lying in a hospital bed with an intravenous 3-way tap in my hand.
I was examined by a series of nurses, doctors and other important looking medical people with conflicting views on what was actually wrong with me. One conclusion was that I had a torsion, (when the testicle spins/twists on its blood vessels and the blood supply is cut off) although this posed problems since I'd had the pain for a few days. If a torsion is not reversed quickly the testicle actually dies and has to removed. Gulp. I'm 20 years old and want to be as fertile as possible thank you very much. Eventually this diagnosis was cast away, and it was decided that I had an infection in my epidydimis. The doctor told me that he thought I should remove the rings, not because he didn't want me to have rings there but because the infection could well spread into them and it was for the best, which I regrettably did. I asked what the cause of the infection was, one doctor told me that they weren't sure, while another said that it was caused by the piercings. I wasn't happy with this diagnosis as there was no sign of infection in the piercings and I thought it was an obvious anti-genital piercing cast off answer. I was started on intravenous antibiotics for 24 hours and kept under supervision. In the morning I was released from hospital and put on a course of antibiotics (Co-amoxiclav 500/125) for 5 days. Just before being released I was examined by a group of doctors who told me that the piercings had caused the infection and that in future I should steer clear of this area because of the general dirtiness and that infection was likely in any future piercing attempts. 2 days on the pain has stopped and the sponginess is going down. I am left with neat little scars as a reminder of my piercing sessions, they have completely healed (apart from little scabs) as the apparent infection here has gone.
The experience has left me a little pissed off. I really wanted the scrotum ladder and after my failed attempts I thought I'd cracked it, now I am left wondering whether I will ever achieve this. I agree with the doctor that you can expect to have problems with infection, the general nasty bacteria that can accumulate in one day even in a clean pair of pants (always a good idea) I guess is quite high. In the near future I am not going to re-attempt these piercings although to console myself I am going to have a second Prince Albert and dermalled conch piercings.
