DISCLAIMER: First things first, I recommend professional piercing whenever and wherever possible. Now, with that out the way we can get on with the experience.
At A Glance Author Skwid When A month ago I'm not what you would call a professional when it comes to piercing, but then again, I'm not an amateur. I've had some piercing experience, I was apprenticed for around a year, year and a half so I definitely feel comfortable around needles. I'm also a reformed cutter, so inflicting pain upon myself is nothing new to me. And to top it off I have pierced my lorum and my frenum before on my own (took the lorum out because it was all alone, and the frenum migrated... not enjoyable).
I'm currently in the U.S. Navy, and attached to an aircraft carrier. This is where my experience took place. I brought my instruments along with me (don't know why, just habit I guess), and I decided that since I was going to be out to sea for a while, this would be the perfect time to pierce myself, and not to mention give me some time to heal before having sex again!).
I laid out my tools on my bunk atop of a piece of wax paper so they wouldn't be laying on my wool blanket. I washed my hands and donned my gloves. Then I carefully marked the placement of the left one on my scrotum. The way it was marked looked straight, then I marked the right side. Everything was good so far. At this point I don't know whether I was excited or nervous, but I was one of them.
I opened the prepackaged 14 gauge needles and placed the 14 gauge CRBs next to them in a small puddle of lube. I sat down on my chair. I placed my clamps, held them with one hand, and grabbed the needle. Aw crap I guess its now or never. I braced myself and breathed in like I tell others to breathe when I pierce them. I shoved the needle through. Surprisingly enough, it barely hurt.
I slid the jewelry in behind the needle, didn't even feel it. In fact, it didn't even feel like there was anything there. Not bad at all. One down and one to go, hopefully the next one was as easy as the first. I lined up the clamps and repeated the procedure. Once again, I barely felt it. I slid the jewelry in, no problem. After everything was said and done, I realized that one was slightly higher than the other. Oh well, I'm slightly off center myself. I kind of liked it.
After about an hour I realized that I was bleeding a little bit. I found a bandage and put it over the area hoping to keep the blood down to a minimum (can't have blood seeping through my pants... now that would be a bad experience in and of itself). Healing the first night was fine, had to sleep on my back, but other than that it didn't bother me. Although when I woke up, I was a little shocked. I had bled a bit in my shorts. And by a bit I mean it looked as if someone had cut a piece of me off. It kind of scared me at first, but after I cleaned it, it looked just fine. It was a little sore for the next few days, and I bled a little the next night. Again I was slightly scared.
Everything I've read has said that they were supposed to be sore the first week or so, but I haven't had any discomfort other than when I'm laying down and I'm trying to sleep on my side. In fact I was quick to forget about them when I wasn't looking at them or laying down.
About a week ago, I changed the CRB's for bent barbells. That went rather smooth, not any real problem. And then two days ago one of the barbells fell out. The left one in fact. I hadn't even realized it for several hours, but when I did I almost panicked. I kept wondering if I had anything to replace the one that had fallen out. I searched my bunk, and then I realized that I had two straight barbells that came with my nipple shields.
I picked the scabs off of the ends of the piercing and tried to push the barbell in. it stung like hell! At first it wouldn't go through... then I really started to panic. But I kept at it and finally it went through the one side. I had to dig a little bit and it popped out the other side. Phew, was I relieved.
There has been another little short healing period as the fistulas re-formed around the straight barbells. They were a little sore this time. But they feel just fine now. So here's where I'm supposed to recommend this piercing as the best in the world. Honestly, its nice but it doesn't really do anything for me. My fiancée still doesn't know what to think. I like them, and in time I'm sure she will come to accept them. So in closing I say this: it was fun, easy, but go to a professional. They could've been straight, but I enjoy them.
