So this is actually the second genital piercing that I've done for a piece of jewelry. I've done a lot of needle play on myself so I really hate to pay for someone to do a piercing for me. For my first genital piercing, I paid a local piercing studio to do a Prince Albert piercing on a Friday after work and that didn't work out for me. The piercer did the piercing without asking me a whole lot of questions and then I found out it was a surface piercing instead of a true PA. He gave me some line about a narrow urethra, which is a load of crap considering I do sounding with fairly sizeable gauge sounds, but whatever. The fact of the matter is that in the course of about a month, it ended up migrating all the way out since it was only a surface piercing. The piercer did really well, but I probably won't use that particular studio without a lot more question and answer period prior to the actual piercing. It helps to make sure that both you and the piercer have a clear picture of what you want to accomplish.

So I decided that I was going to do another piercing myself. This time, I decided to do a Hafada (higher up centerline scrotal piercing). I had some 10-gauge jewelry left over that I hadn't used for the Prince Albert. I had ordered a 10-gauge needle and a receiving tube sized to handle the 10-gauge needle in case I chose to do the Prince Albert myself, so I went ahead and used those items for the new piercing.

Since I was used to needle play, I greatly preferred a slow needle piercing as opposed to the quick punch through of a typical piercing. It is a lot easier to tolerate a piercing when you can take the time to wrap your mind around each slight movement. I also think there is a lot less room for error when you take your time. My goods are not something that I want to mess up, so it's worth the extra minute or two.

I boiled the piercing needle and the receiving tube to ensure that any possible bacteria were eliminated (probably old school, but it works for me). I put on gloves for easy cleanup and added cleanliness. The next thing to do was to line up the spot that I would actually be piercing. One of the things that I have yet to purchase is a pair of forceps. These would probably help out on getting the exact location, but since I didn't have any and didn't care to wait, I went on without any.

I twisted everything sideways a quarter turn to get a better angle and held the centerline of my sac in with one hand as I placed the receiving tube on the surface below the sac. I lined everything up where I thought it should be and placed the needle point on the sac above the receiving tube. Time for the big decision. Do I or do I not? I went ahead with it and started to slowly place weight on the top of the needle. I never really used any amount of force. It was basically a combination of gravity with just a little help every once in a while. So you can probably imagine that I really did take my time with it.

After what seemed about two minutes, it was finally all the way through. It was at this point that I realized I probably shouldn't have gone as deep, but the deed was done. Since I was using an open horseshoe ring, it was kind of a mute point. Had I been using a closed captive bead ring, it may have been too tight of a fit. So I got lucky on that part.

I then started to think about the exchange of the needle and the jewelry and realized that there was a possibility of a gap when using the jewelry to push out the ring. So I was very careful to ensure that I had the two pieces in full contact at all times and didn't encounter the gap issue. The pass of the jewelry in and the needle out was successful. I hadn't encountered any blood until this point. The piercing tools were spotless, but once the jewelry was through, I did get a small flow of blood for about ten to fifteen seconds and then it was over.

For cleanup, I used warm water for the general blood and then a gentle cleanser. I then cleaned around the jewelry for the final step with original Listerine. Probably wise to use only the brown stuff, rather than the other flavored ones. So as far as piercings go, it was a rather easy experience and relatively painless. The piercing has not interfered with any activity thus far, but it's still very new so I will just have to see how it goes.
