It all started back in January when I decided to get my nipple pierced, shortly after that i realized that i really like getting pierced so i decided on what to get next. I didn't want a piercing done that was common and that everybody could see, my original plan was to get pierced on my penis but I was worried that it may interfere with my sex life and risk having it ripped out during sex or it tearing a condom.

I decided to get pierced on the underside of my penis on the piece of skin that connects the base of the penis to the sac. I did a little research to make sure that I was not going to be in significant amounts of danger by getting it done. I called the people at Utility to make sure that they would be able to do the piercing in the location I wanted it done, they said it would be fine to do and cost about $80-$100 depending on the jewellery that I got put in.
I made that call on a Monday, I went to the studio on Saturday because I had the whole day off work as well as Sunday. I live in Dartmouth so I needed to take the bus to the ferry terminal and then take a ferry to Halifax. I was really excited and scared as well. After arriving in Halifax I walked around and got some food first so that I wouldn't pass out or vomit after getting pierced. I walked into the studio and was really surprised by what was in the shop, there was no tattoo flash on the wall, portraits were on the wall instead. I thought I might be in the wrong place but as I approached the counter I could see all of the barbells, rings and studs. The clerk assured me that I was in the right place, she was very friendly with me and introduced me to the piercer.
I asked him about any dangers and he told me about the dangers if I did not clean the piercing well and if it was caught on my pants and ripped out. In order to pick out an appropriate sized ring, he drew a picture of a penis complete with testicles and sac, he then told me to draw where I want the ring to go. He told me it would be best to go with the 14g horse shoe ring as it would be easier to keep clean and have less chance of getting caught on my boxers and pants.
The piercer was very nice and really funny. He could tell I was nervous about getting it done so he made a few jokes when I asked him about how long he has been doing these piercing "I watched a video on it the other day" he replied, I almost turned white but he assured me he was just kidding and that he did them often and has never had any major problems while doing them. This made me rest a little better. As he was preparing the needle and jewellery he asked me if I had been getting pierced for long and if I thought that they hurt.
He finished getting the clamps ready and said that whenever I was ready to just "show my goods", I laughed and took off my pants and lay on the table while a bright light was turned on over the table. I clamped my sac and stuck the needle through, it hurt a little but nothing more then a big pinch. He waited a moment before he slid the ring in just to make sure that i was ok, I assured him that i was fine and that it didn't hurt near as much as I thought it would. After putting the ring in he left the room for a minute so that i could take a look at the piercing in privacy and put my pants back on. He came back in with the after care instruction sheet and a little baggy full of sea salt. He explained how to clean it and not to be worried if there is a little dry blood and crust in the morning when I wake up.
I left the piercing room, said thanks and gave him a tip. He even let me leave a drawing at the shop that he will redraw for me when I go back to get it tattooed. Utility was rated my The Coast magazine as the best piercing and tattoo shop in Halifax and it is very clear as to why. The shop is very clean, the employees are very polite, helpful and professional. I recommend Utility to anyone who wants to get a tattoo or a piercing.
