I have been reading experiences on BME for a few months now, and the more I read, the more I want to experiment. So for the last three months, I have been reading and reading on scrotum piercings, when I came across an experience written by someone who had done it himself.

But I was determined to try this for myself, not because of the price of piercings and not because I had something against dropping my pants for someone else to shove a needle through, but because it seemed like a good way to get 'in touch with myself.'
So I studied. And eventually I purchased 5 14 gauge needles, which took about 15 days to reach New Zealand. I had let some of my friends know my intentions, and all of them were quite shocked. They didn't understand my reasoning for wanting to do it myself, but it wasn't for them to understand.
The needles finally arrived in the post, and I hurried to take them out of the packaging, then got my jewellery (sic) ready. I boiled the captive bead ring I was planning on putting in, and cleaned down the area in my bathroom I planned on placing my equipment. I washed my hands up, and decided to put some gloves on. The gloves had been sitting unpackaged for weeks, so I decided against it. I washed my hands up again, and took the CBR out from the pot it was boiling in. I waited until everything else was ready before I even touched the needle.
I had everything sitting beside me on the edge of the bath (which was cleaned down), and I guessed that the Listerine sitting beside me would probably do more good than harm, so cleaned down the CBR and surfaces with it. I then wiped my scrotum with the Listerine, and took the needle out of the package it came in. I breathed in and out, and contemplated chickening out.
I pinched the skin to be pierced, and put the needle up to the edge of the skin. I positioned the cork on the other side, and started slowly pushing the needle through. It basically felt like a pinching feeling, and gave me a bit of a rush to the head. I pushed harder, damn these needles were sharp. It went through quite easily, with only a slight bit of resistance at the other side of the skin. I ended up simply pulling the skin over the needle, which was a bit easier. No blood whatsoever, which I was definitely surprised about. I sat and looked proudly at the two-inch long needle sticking through my scrotum, and smiled. It felt so relieving, even better than I thought it would. Back to business. I placed my ring at the end of the needle and started to push through again. I realized that a larger needle would have been more compatible with the 14 gauge ring I was trying to put through, as the ring was the same width as the needle, meaning that it didn't fit the ring inside it like I guess I expected. I left the ring at the edge of the needle anyway, so it could go through in one motion. The ring went through as easily as the needle did initially, and the bead was very easy to put on, a lot easier than putting them on nipple rings. It was very close to what I was expecting the pain to be like, if you want a relatively close comparison, just pinch your sack wherever you want the needle.
So as I said, it had an effect even better than I thought, in which it felt at that moment that nothing bothered me at all. I have never felt anything as good in my life! I felt lifted, excited and relieved. I walked around with my pants off for a while, admired it in the mirror for a minute or two, looked at it some more and then put my pants back on. I was very happy with the look of it, but I do stress to make sure all precautions are taken to ensure the piercing is done at a level comparable to a professional if you are considering attempting this.
I have been soaking it in saline twice a day, and washing it with anti-bacterial soap every day in the shower, and rotating it whenever wet. I am very proud of my new piercing, and would be very disappointed if it decides to migrate, as I have a paranoid suspicion it might, as it's not very deep.
